史雲頓公園飯店(Swinton Park)

Grandparents with grandkids on first visit. Nice welcome on arrival, check in simple and given short orientation by welcome host / porter. Room ticked the box ( Beverly ) as it had separate room with bunk beds for boys. Lovely modern bath room with amenities. Didn’t use public areas much except the game room. Toilets in main hotel were well serviced and clean. Had drinks and dinner in Terrace on 5 occasions and found everything enjoyable. Quality of food was excellent . Chicken for 2 was a well thought out presentation. Steak was also very good. Kids menu was adequate but limited when staying for several days . Wine list was short but good. Service from Emma was friendly and efficient. Also the Terrace manager Nicolai was very attentive. Some staff were a little inexperienced and in need of more training. Pool and spa were excellent and very well designed. Family changing facilities were perfect. Good range of activities to keep you occupied and plenty of space to suit most requirements. Overall we had a very enjoyable break . The hotel room rates are not cheap so here are a couple of observations we made. Public area cleaning could focus on more attention to the dusting of mirrors , lamps and corners. Terrace restaurant would benefit from a good window cleaner.

Swinton Park provided excellent traditional hotel accommodation. Loved The Terrace restaurant & Bar, as well as the SPA pools & trea**ents. Helpful, courteous staff on reception, in the Terrace bar & restaurants, bistro. Will definitely visit again. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Had a lovely night in a beautiful hotel, with a nice dinner in samuels restaurant, we had a light lunch in the terrace restaurant which was fabulous. The grounds are well worth a visit, all in all a very relaxing stay

need a good clean terrible value for money we got a suite and it was like a throwback from the 1950s.

From start to finish everything was perfect. Everyone made us feel so welcome, from the staff to our fellow guests. We had so many great conversations with such a diverse group of wonderful people. We had a complimentary room upgrade which was wonderful, we stayed for 2 nights in the Thirsk room; which was lovely, warm and comfortable. I would recommend the Champagne welcome package and late checkout, it was great to enjoy a chilled glass of champagne in our room as we got ready for dinner. We ate both nights at Samuel’s, which is in a stunningly decorated dining hall, the service was exceptional and the food was delicious. Breakfast both days was also at Samuel’s and it was really nice; great value. They have cooked and continental available and it was all good quality. I would have liked more sweet options on the menu, perhaps French toast or waffles. But that’s just nitpicking. There’s loads of activities you can join in to, we really enjoyed the cocktail tasting at the Terrace bar, where we acted as guinea pigs for new cocktail creations, it was a fun experience. The cocktails which we actually paid for were also very good. Likewise the cocktails at Samuel’s bar were also well made. The spa was amazing, I especially liked the Finnish sauna and outdoor hydrotherapy pool and hot tub. The outdoor pool is cold but just take the plunge! You will not regret it. The spa also has lovely outdoor beds, with warm blankets and a hot water bottle. Perfect to relax with a few drinks. There’s honesty just too much to say, the house itself is stunning, the grounds are gorgeous and I cannot wait to return again.

Beautiful hotel and grounds with plenty of activities and lots of amenities at a very reasonable price. We originally intended to visit nearby towns and attractions but apart from a few hours in Masham we stayed on the estate, it’s huge! Facilities are first class as were the staff. Little touches like a boot room and umbrellas everywhere, just in case were a surprising extra although we didn’t need them. Spent a couple of hours on the snooker table with the wife during our stay (no not like that!) All in all it’s a very pleasant and relaxing place and we thought, superb value for money

An elegant 'Rolls Royce' operation throughout! Friendly, efficient and knowledgeable staff in all areas of the hotel. Visit was partially a 'gift experience' but extended to dinner and overnight as as a bit of an indulgent treat. Slight disappoin**ent that the 'posh' Samuel's Restaurant wasn't open (Tuesday eve), but the Terrace Restaurant was excellent- an interesting selection of 'small plate' options and, again, excellent staff (special mention to the young manager who dealt with a rather 'challenging' (to put it politely!) diner with calm, courteous professionalism.

We have enjoyed scores of country house hotels up and down Britain over many years and fine dining is a main factor in selecting such hotels. On this our first night at this venue we were deeply disappointed with the Terrace restaurant's utter confusion over our really rather simple order. They managed to confuse our starter orders with the main courses. The former being offered when we had almost finished the main courses. Also, a side order was presented when the main course was almost finished. Chaos, heaped upon chaos. I have already paid for our stay here for the next four nights and need to consider whether to cut my losses. I have never before complained about any country house hotel we have stayed at and consider us always to be appreciative and friendly guests. But this has been incompetence that could be readily excused at an honest, hard working local hotel, but not at an establishment such as the Swinton House hotel.
