The beach was calling to us as our last stop on our honeymoon adventure after our safari in the Serengeti. Tulia was the perfect place for us to land and we could not have been more happy that we closed out our trip there. We arrived at the hotel and were immediately served fresh fruit and welcomed to our beach home for the next five nights. Local Masai who live on the hotel grounds took our bags and we were checked in. Dorka at the front desk was able to answer every single one of our questions, and throughout our stay she was absolutely critical to making sure that we had everything we needed, that we had our trips/adventures planned, and that we could relax and let go of any worries for our stay. She even suggested the best place to try local food in Stonestown at Lukmaan which was incredibly delicious! Our beachfront villa had a breathtaking view of the Indian ocean that was right out the door from our room. The beachfront rooms are all pretty close together, but feel private enough with the lush vegetation and trees isolating the front patios of each villa. The villa layout is a bit strange, and the fully open plan is unique with your bed in the middle of the room, and a shower and sinks against the back wall. The bathroom left a little to be desired, but the proximity to the ocean and the beautiful hotel made it all up. Any hesitations on the room were more than made up for by the unbelievable staff that quickly became our great friends who we continue to stay in touch with. The central cabana has a gorgeous pool that serves as the center of activity at Tulia. Here we first met Abdul, whose kind smile and cocktail skills immediately started the honeymoon off right. The five course meals at Tulia are delicious, gourmet, and come directly from the beautiful organic garden on the property. There is no way to stay hungry at Tulia, and it will be delivered by incredible waitstaff like Fatma and Adam who always kept us fed, happy and full of smiles. The first night the entire staff did an incredible dance and encouraged us to jump in, which we happily did even with our sub par dance moves. Every night’s dinner had some sort of special entertainment. For excursions from Tulia, there are many great adventures available. One of the most unique and special opportunities at Tulia was going with Jindrich to the local school where we got to meet all of the students in their classrooms, donate items to the local kids, and play a quick game of soccer and tug-of-war. From there we went on to Stonetown where we met our fabulous guide who was a local expert in Zanzibar history and enhanced our trips to the powerful and unforgettable Slave market and the local souk marketplace with insight and stories. The next day we woke up early and hired a private boat to take us snorkeling at Mnemba Island. It was so special to have our own boat compared to the loads of other tourists crowded onto small boats all around us. Our captains Hassan and MK could not have b
