Had a splendid 2 night stay and wish we could have stayed longer. The staff made us feel so welcome. They are exceptionally polite and well informed on the surrounding area. We were provided with a map full of helpful suggestions, and a thorough introduction to the lodge and all it's facilities upon check-in. The lodge is located right next to Hermanus New Harbour and a few steps from the cliff path, which is well worth the walk. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. It opens onto a beautiful, well maintained garden area but a few steps from the pool. Breakfast was fantastic (reccommend the Full English!), and a lovely selection of breads, cereals, fruits, cold meats, yogurts etc at the buffet. Truly, no complaints. Would absolutely stay again.

Abbiamo alloggiato nella Villa in due Family Suite comunicanti. È stata una piacevole scoperta. L’atmosfera che si respira è fantastica, tutto molto curato e nulla lasciato al caso. La colazione era abbondante e con i piatti caldi cucinati al momento. Tutto perfetto!

Returning for our fith time. Excellent position, very friendly staff and great amenities. Made to feel like one of the family and cannot wait to return. Arranged taxis into town and great advice on the local area. Melanie is one of the best managers we have stayed with.

The experience at Whale Rock was excellent from check in to check out. Pros (some not mentioned in description)... great breakfast and good options & Service 100%. We stayed in room 4, which was well furnished with a great view. The bed was super comfy. Pool area is great with areas of shade and sun at most times of the day. Staff are excellent and so accomodating, you could not ask for more. Cons If you drive to the hotel using Sat Nav, it can route you through a local "shanty" area, which can be a bit disconcerting, however be 100% assured this is not a problem, as with many places in many places around the world, just be sensible. Drive in and out, or use tuk-taxis after dark and you will be completely safe.

Spent 3 nights at Whale Rock lodge where we were upgraded to their top room 1 which was huge and very luxurious The staff are very knowledgeable about local attractions and eating venues which we took on board and enhanced our visit Delicious breakfast with huge selection Great local taxi service to town at 100 rand return Extensive grounds to enjoy with a good sized swimming pool Great cliff walk into town from their doorstep and very secure with local security until 5pm daily Hermanus has some great shops too and numerous restaurants our favourite being La Pentola Restaurant in Hermanus.

The room was very large and there were plenty of nice areas to sit and play boardgames or just read a book. There was an honesty bar, which seems quite common in RSA. The breakfast was ok, but not great. No fresh juice and the specialty coffee (which came at an additional cost) was not very good. The pool didn't look clean, even though there was a guy there every morning trying to clean it plus a machine. Not sure if it was unclean or not, but the water wasn't clear, so I didn't use the pool. The guest house is a good 30 mins walk from the centre of the town but you get there using a magnificent cliff walk which is also nice for running.

Our stay was short, just overnight but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and very clean. Information booklet was helpful and interesting. We would stay again next time we in Hermanus.

Gorgeous hotel, well appointed in a quiet residential area of Hermanus, we stayed in the Villa part of the property, a reasonably new addition lovely, bright and modern big comfy beds and gorgeous bathrooms, and with solar power so no load shedding issues here. Breakfasts every day were cooked to order and delicious, plus the buffet pancakes were delicious. The pool area is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day. They also have an honesty bar, which is very handy, too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will for sure return. We must really thank Aspen, who's great customer service, made our stay magical and special. Thank you so much for having us and looking after us so well

So we like the hotel. Hermanus village is okay. However the 2 first images are misleading. These are not from the hotel but from a bar 10 minutes walk away. We booked it bc we thought it was on the premises (we were with baby)

A beautiful thatched cottage style property with amazing gardens and pool, lovely lounge with honesty bar which was well stocked with wines, spirits and sodas. Rooms were comfortable with lovely big bath. Breakfast was lovely and staff friendly and attentive. Would stay here again sadly we only had one night would have liked longer.

Wonderful hotel and great location for picking up the walking route into Hermanus. We had a suite which was absolutely incredible, the room had a huge comfy bed and also a large sofa, with a dressing room which then went into a large bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities and a working fridge with complimentary water. Outside was a good size swimming pool with beds but it was too chilly whilst we were there so didn’t actually go in it. Breakfast was good with a choice of hot and cold food.

Stayed for three nights, the room was nice and clean, the staff very friendly .
