If you’re traveling by yourself or one other person, this is a nice budget option for sure. The staff was very friendly, the room was good, the bed was comfy. No breakfast, no problem. Here’s the problem I had: I booked a suite with a bedroom and a foldout couch and living area. They swapped my room for a WAY smaller one at the very last minute, after I confirmed my reservation by phone a day prior. My friend and I had to sleep in the same bed together. We laughed it off, and that was not a big deal. Nor did I make a stink at the front desk, that wouldn’t have helped. I had a friendly and professional chat with the woman at the desk, and she said that’s basically all they had. So I got stuck with it, then brushed it off and lived with it, as anyone probably should. Another whole room would’ve been excessive, we didn’t really need that, but we were way less comfortable. They shouldn’t have switched our room on us like that. The room we got was cheaper than what we reserved, and they gave us zero recourse, but we’re nice guys. We’re low-budget guys, but that’s a low-level scam. So we’re just not going to stay at Sonesta Suites hotels anymore after this. We’re experienced travelers for our jobs, and we only go back to places that don’t pull this kind of stuff. In all fairness, they told me that the place was under construction, and that was the reason why we got a small room. That’s not the point. They had my phone number and email address, and could’ve given me advance warning. Just 30 seconds, a voicemail or quick email. That’s shady man. We stayed there for just one night, but what if you the reader are planning on staying a week? That could easily amount to a bigger problem, for more than one person. There’s a pretty decent-looking Drury Inn & Suites closer to downtown, just far enough from the highway to be quiet. I’ll check that place out next time I’m in Huntsville. For all you budget travelers out there, Sonesta Suites - Exchange Park is very safe, but not quiet due to the ongoing construction on the hotel. We had guys banging on the outside window with hammers at 9AM. Mornin’ y’all, we didn’t object, we just got up and ate our food. If you book a room with more than a bed and a chair, be warned, that’s what we thought we were getting. I have the pictures that Sonesta Suites posted of our room from when we booked the trip. You might not get the same room, but it’s a solid room. The kitchenette was useful, full fridge and freezer, but we could do without a cold-shoulder from the Sonesta corporate office.
