PRIVACY CONCERNS and LYING STAFF. While I was in my room during the first 30 min there was a knock and cleaning lady barged in like this was a hospital. I was exposed to the cleaning lady. My response was “may I help you” rushing to the door. She said “sorry”. I then assistant manager Sabrina called my room and reported that “2 staff members smelled smoke from my room” and the staff member that opened the door said “saw smoke in the room” according to assistant manager Sabrina, and would be charged an extra $200 dollars . Except here’s the thing, there wasn’t smoking or smoke nor had I been around smoking any part of the day. I’d been in the room for 30 min… This whole situation was upsetting. I asked for assist manager Sabrina to come up to my room to verify that there was no smoke smell, no smoke in the room, no smoke smell on me, etc and then when I check out for her to do the same. She refused and gave me a circular argument that I would have to trust them. “I give you my word” was thrown out there in an attempt to reassure me. Her word and the integrity of the staff there has already called into question with the original lying and exposure attempts. I told her I was not happy and not satisfied with the situation and was still being told I would be charge the $200 fee for this experience (not smoking) if they find evidence of smoking or smells of smoke. I told them I would not be staying here again after this experience. After getting off the room phone, things just didn’t set right. I googled people getting put through the same scam but had not read if others were exposed in their attempt to find evidence of smoking. Usually they just lie about it, you get charged and they take your money. So I called back and eventually got was offered a refund if I didn’t want to stay. Still no apology for my experiences. The staff at the front gave me the good riddance look. I called them this morning from a much better hotel at which I was staying. No one barged in my room at this hotel. There was a knock, they announced house keeping like a normal hotel. The front desk would not let me speak to the General Manager LAUREN REMINGTON as a note was in the system saying my concerns had been addressed and I am blacklisted. First time I’ve been black listed, but it didn’t really matter since I verbalized that I would not frequent this hotel again. It’s like saying “you can’t quit, you can’t, you’re fired!” The dishonest house keeping staff, the poor ability for the staff to address concerns they created and a complete lack of integrity are what you can expect from LAUREN REMINGTON, the General Manager that refused to speak to their customer and the assistant manager Sabrina.
The hotel facilities were fine, average for the price range. The staff was friendly, helpful. I booked two stays a week apart, minutes from the Portland Airport for a family trip to Hawaii. On the first visit the hotel shuttle was great, came within a few minutes. Took three trips on it during that stay—my arrival and back to the airport to collect arriving family members, all was well. On the return trip I needed to take the shuttle back to the airport to catch an intercity shuttle back to my home city Eugene. The desk said “It’s already on its way” I waited half an hour, no shuttle. Quite a few people were waiting for it by now. Releasing I would miss the other shuttle’s boarding time, I called for a private Lyft back home. I think I will do this when flying from PDX from now on. It is less expensive overall (hotel stay, intercity shuttle) Also very comfortable and exact timing I needed. Another caution: This was NOT the Aloft hotel’s fault but I accidentally booked the stays on a third party site. It looked like I was on the hotel’s web page except for tiny print in the upper left hand corner. It added a total of $160 to the stays and makes it impossible to cancel the stays even weeks before. I see this happening more and more. Be careful out there.
I think this hotel should consider to change their Stars on the online platform. Hyaat name is also confusing, it doesn’t represent Hyaat quality although. Breakfast has very limited food! Windows are not possible to open to get fresh air, due to security they say, but even a little bit opening possibility would give a lot confidence peope like me who desperately need it for the health reason!
Ddavidll2018This gem of a hotel features HUGE rooms/suites and a lovely daily buffet breakfast. The staff was incredibly helpful from the moment we checked in, really trying extra hard to make sure our stay was perfect (it was!). Front desk staff Raquel, Woody, Brent, and Abraham was available round the clock. (AND - a special mention to the housekeeping department - I can't remember a hotel ever providing such a consistent level of spotless cleaning!). Forget anything you've seen on the news: Portland is open to visitors - and THIS is the hotel you want to stay in!
Stayed here at the start and end of a Road Scholar trip. Hotel and room were exceptionally clean. Room was well stocked with towels. Breakfast buffet was good-with attendant refilling items and keeping area clean. Shuttle was not available on arrival but they provided an Uber instead. Desk clerk stayed on the phone with me while I found the Uber driver at PDX.
訪訪客I don’t understand the glowing reviews & photos are definitely deceiving. I should have captured the armed security guards all over the place and the homeless drug addicts shooting up on the street. I have never been so relieved to leave Portland. What a gorgeous city overcome with homeless tent camps and sad addicts freebasing on every corner. Tried to walk a few blocks to dinner but had to Uber back in order to be safe. Thankfully we didn’t bring our children but it would have been such an education on why not to try drugs. Luckily our car was not broken in to (see past reviews) however a homeless person clearly made it onto our floor screaming at 5am since the elevator’s card reader to make it onto upper floors was not operational. We were mostly deceived by AmEx as this property was listed as a Fine Hotels property. It is not but I would say the others listed were not either (the Nines was much nicer but more addicts were down that way. Another old hotel but nice hotels in Portland are few & far between). Love this city but I will not be back until it is cleaned up and the Ritz Carlton opens. All of this said, the staff at the Duniway are doing their best with what they have to work with. We experienced great customer service, clean rooms, and comfortable rooms. The hotel desperately needs an update though. What made our stay a positive one is that we left unharmed, found some great restaurants (go to the Pearl District), and spent all day away from Portland at Hood River or the Oregon coast.
I love the autonomy of this hotel! The management was in touch and always available via text. Great coffee shop directly connected to the lobby. My room was cozy and I had a big tub! Beautiful old building, raw and rustic. Staircase was wide and not steep. Elevator was available. Quiet room. Linens were great. All the hotel bathroom amenities. Electric kettle and mini fridge came in handy. Great location. Near restaurants, bars, groceries and transit. I would totally stay here again.
张张We ringed the bell several times no one showed up at the front desk. We had to wait for about 10 mins for the person to show up at the front desk to check us out.
