馬克史賓塞飯店(The Mark Spencer Hotel)

There appeared to be a misunderstanding between the hotel and Trip.com as we booked the stay with breakfast stated as included but the hotel reception said they had not provided breakfast for a long time, since Covid19 started. They needed to sort this between themselves. However, the manager was gracious to refund us the cost of breakfast at a nearby cafe. The location of the hotel was near to a number of bus stops for different directions. The view from our room window was very poor, just an internal air well.

Boutique hotel, perfect spot to stay for a Timbers game. Complimentary wine, cheese and crackers from 5:00 - 6:00 and a very comfortable sitting area to enjoy them. Room was very clean and quite nice, everything we needed. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Beautiful historic hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. I could hear a lot of noise from the elevator next to my room and people in the hallway and room upstairs. I’ll bring earplugs next time and it will be fine. The bed linens were by far the nicest I’ve ever experienced…like being swaddled by silkworms. In a good way! Very convenient to Powell’s Books. Brought a pizza back from Sizzle Pie and chilled in the evening. Will stay again!

The rating really depends which room you got. I booked deluxe queen (2 queen beds) using *******. Got room 502 but upon entering the room saw that it was couple of tiny rooms and it smelled. The beds barely fit in the sleeping room, the bathroom was tiny. We opened all 3 tiny windows,  but not much has changed since the windows are facing corner of the inner court  no air flow. The furniture, beds, and kitchen was all OK, but all cramped. Next day I asked if we could get a room with a table or desk, since all of the photos showed chairs and desks or tables. Got room 418. This room (consists of 3 areas) was triple the size and the windows were big and sunny. No smell, and it was not cold (but I think it was heated from the sun). The bathroom was also much bigger and we had a desk and a coffee table, and plenty of room in the bedroom. Much nicer. It take me 2 attempts (come at 1pm, then come at 4pm) to get this room, and another 1h to pack and move, but it was worthed.

We were given a room and it had a noisy fan, so they gave us room 511 which had a bit of smoke smell, but very faint. Lovely room with table. Beds very comfortable with proper linens and pillows. No view, except bricks, but that is oK. Great walk in shower. Small kitchen with refrigerator and microwave. Wonderful wine hour from 5-6 and great wines as well. Eventho, they ran out of red wine after one bottle. They did have a Stoller Chardonnay-wonderful. Coffee is not that great in the morning down in the breakfast room, a bit lite roasted for my taste. Everything seemed clean and up to date.

From the moment we arrived, my daughter & I were treated like VIP’s! The late afternoon guest services staff went above and beyond to make it special! Mohammed, at the door, waved us over to share where we could go to easily unload and where to safely and affordable park less than a block away! He also greeted us again at the loading area with a luggage cart, got it loaded and safely inside while we parked, and then delivered up to our door! No, it’s not the new shiny penny, it’s the old penny that holds so many stories, secrets, charm! Rooms have the space needed for its use. We didn’t come here to sit in a hotel room! Walkable to all downtown and Pikes Place, etc. Right across from courthouse courtyard full of beautiful trees, restaurants and bars nearby, and nearby sights and shopping!

My favorite place to stay in Portland. Love the location, the comfy beds, the sheets, and especially the robes!! I miss the breakfast, but I am glad they still have happy hour. Staff is always nice and accommodating. Glad they have coffee bar just in case!

Check in was easy and the person who greeted us was helpful and kind. Parking was accessible and accommodating to our over height vehicle. The room was the real star though, the bed was one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in. We booked the king corner suite for our honeymoon. Having the kitchen was a benefit.

Stayed as a family with kids. It took us 30 minutes to check in because there was only one person working the front desk. We could see her boss walking around, not helping the line of guests, and it was very frustrating. Our kids were screaming and we were tired from a flight and just had to stand and wait. Then the lack of room cleaning or towel refreshments during the stay was tough, too. Also parking was difficult because of the layout of the garage. This place is nicer than it used to be years ago before it was remodeled, but I think I liked it better then. But the location is outstanding.
