加烏布自然保護區農場飯店(Ghaub Nature Reserve & Farm - One Namibia)

la première vision : les singes au bord de la piscine! surprenant! et puis les chambres sont grandes et spacieuses, très propres. L'accueil, le service, la restauration sont très bien. Et puis dans cette réserve qui a réintégré les rhinocéros, la rencontre avec ces imposantes créatures, se fait en partie à pied. Un moment intente d'excitation et d'inquiétude, de confiance aussi, en les guides, en soi et en ces animaux. Belle rencontre

Zum zweiten Mal hier. Absolute Ruhe und Erholung pur. Zimmer sehr gross und äusserst sauber. Grosses Bett, welches mit Moskitonetz ausgestattet ist. Personal sehr nett. Essen gut. Sehr gepflegte Anlage, welche zum Verweilen und Sonnenbaden einlädt.

Sehr schöne geräumige Campsites direkt am Zugang zum Busch. Schöne große Ablutions aus Stein gebaut. Grosse fest installierte Tische vorhanden. Schöne große Feuerstelle. Wir standen anfangs auf Campsite Nr 1. Unsere Dusche war defekt. Wir konnten problemlos auf Campsite Nr 3 wechseln, wo die Dusche perfekt funktionierte. Warmes Wasser bekommt man über den angefeuerten Donkey, das Feuerholz liegt bereit. Wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder.

we visited Ghaub this weekend and stayed there for 1 night at the camp sites. the facilities are good. on saturday, we went to the cave and it was fantastic. the guide was knowledgeable and the tour both interesting and fun. its really great and for those, who want to have a proper adventure. you have to be fit, not claustrophobic and reasonable thin to fit through everywhere. really enjoyed it.

What a beauty this farm is. You arrive to a widespread garden area with historic buildings and a great ambience. The rooms are large and the heigh ceilings are my favourite. The food was superb - most produced on the farm! Lovely staff and an amazing scenery over the landscape.

Camped here for a night with a plan to do the cave tour the following morning. Unfortunately, it rained all night, so the cave was inaccessible. The facilities were nice, with a lush view to the green-covered hills in the area. Reception area has strong internet, although not at campsites. Each campsite has its own braai, covered table, and indoor toilet and shower.

We booked for camping for 1 night 4 people 2 trailers 2 cars, unfortunately the campsites are inaccessible for trailers and the website/ info doesn’t explain this, in the end the Manager did make a plan for us and all was good as it was too late for us to move elsewhere, we wanted to use the restaurant seeing as though they helped us ( by way of supporting the establishment) but they only prepare enough food for booked guest ahh well it turned out ok in the end, just beware not suitable for trailers only roof top tents or ground tents, we did suggest they update website or mention when you book, we did book in Feb for August stay

We very much enjoyed our stay at Ghaub but we would have appreciated a map of the walking trails. We saw signs and numbers but the reception couldn't provide us with information about distances or routes.

I just experienced the magic of Ghaub Lodge. I sadly only spent one night there, but it was an experience I won’t forget. I was in Room 3 (rooms are basically identical though rooms on the ends have an extra window) and it was spacious with a double bed and day bed/seating area, desk, wardrobe all under very, very tall ceilings - nearly 2 storeys it seemed! I loved how it overlooked the expansive green lawn and pool with the Otavi mountains so close. Waking up to hearing all the wildlife all around was incredible. Perhaps my favorite was the afternoon rhino viewing activity led by Fran. We were whisked off on a safari jeep driving through the yellow grasses and dirt roads to find the rescued rhinos. Although rescued, these are still wild animals who weren’t hand-raised by humans and live freely with not even a chip tracker implanted into them. Ghaub is merely the custodian and provider of open land for these mighty creatures. We were able to walk a safe distance from them and see all 8 of the rhinos! Heartbreakingly, 3 rhinos were poached in early 2021 including a baby, so places like Ghaub are so important for wildlife conservation and being a guest here helps continue to protect the fragile population of rhinos. Dinner at the lodge was a hearty 3-course menu of salad, beef with various veggies, and a chocolate custard. We ate by a roaring fire in the cozy German-inspired dining area. I took advantage of the open land and lack of light pollution to do some star photography and it was the perfect setting. Special thank you to Fran for an unforgettable experience at such a special and unique location. This is the perfect place to spend your time after visiting Etosha and right before returning to Windhoek. You can also visit Hoba meteorite which is relatively close! Highly recommend staying at this beautiful lodge.
