Heerlijk verblijf van 4 dagen gehad in The Lion. kamer precies genoeg wat nodig is. Prachtige gerenoveerde badkamer. ben zelf alleen geen bad-liefhebber, had liever een gewone douche gehad. Volgende keer bij een boeking niet vergeten het als voorkeur aan te geven. Ontbijt uitstekend! Ook 2 diners genoten en was heerlijk. Vriendelijk personeel, gezellige bar, veel en gratis parkeerplaats om de hoek

The restaurant is not as good as it was. New management? Both dishes we ordered were high on potatoes, the lead ingredients highlighted in menu much reduced in quantity and quality. For pork with potatoes read potatoes with a little pulled pork. Disappointing. Used to be the best place to eat in the area. Two meagre slices of garlic bread now £6. No longer good value.

We had our wedding meal at the Lion on Friday 26th April and we can’t thank Mark and his team enough..they couldn’t do enough for us food and service...the food was outstanding and all our guests commented how nice it was and saying they will definitely be back again in the future...proper home cooked absolutely beautiful food..thanks again for making a perfect ending to our perfect day.

Room was clean but some attention to detail needed. Curtain pole fell down on opening curtains. Shower tray overflowed. Limited space around overlarge sink. Nowhere to put wash bag when in use. Bed comfy. Room quiet.

Booked a meal for a family of 7 for an 18th birthday meal and the team at The Lion did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the staff were very accommodating. We ordered popcorn chicken with winter slaw, poached pear salad and soup for starters, mains were steak with peppercorn sauce, ham and burgers with ice cream for desserts and all was delicious and reasonably priced. The ambience was lovely with great background music, fairy lights and roaring fires which is a must on a winter's night! Well done The Lion for making it a lovely evening for a special occasion. Thank you. :-)

Very friendly staff, very quick and easy check in and out. Had an evening meal which was excellent. Good breakfast. Comfortable beds with nice selection of toiletries. Enjoyed our stay

Have eaten here before and always found the food excellent. We were a group of 7 and were all disappointed with our meal in this occasion. They usually have a varied and interesting menu but this time it was limited- fish and chips and ham and chips, chicken and leek pie, burger -seemed a bit more pub grub/ cafe lunch fayre rather than their usual a la carte. No specials either on a Saturday evening approaching the Christmas run up. However we all enjoyed our main meals. I had the Seabass with popcorn cockles which was one of the few “different” things on the menu and it was nice - the caper sauce was very MarieRose/ prawn cocktail ish but the popcorn cockles and the fish itself was stunning. The biggest disappointment came with desserts. Most of us ordered the Turkish Delight Pannacotta and we were all very disappointed with it. They had very little flavour and were more like blancmange consistency rather than pannacotta- mine was particularly flavourless. When i complained I was told mine was a different batch and I was offered a Baileys Chocolate trifle as an alternative. This too was awful -i ate about a quarter it was mostly just whipped cream with a bit of baileys , no sponge or chocolate layers /sauce , just one note in terms of flavour and texture. My friend ordered waffles which were like cardboard/burnt toast. When she went to complain the waiter /barman told her “don’t you start as well”. I am not sure if this was meant to be humorous or a serious comment but For 5 /7 women to be so disappointed with there desserts says something. The 2 who had cheesecake and the ice cream enjoyed theirs. At £7 per dessert they were not cheap and although we complained specifically about the desserts there was no offer to deduct them from our bill. Needless to say we did not leave a tip and will not be rushing back for our friends birthday in January

Lovely people, great service and pretty good pub food. Our doubke room was clean, but very small. The bathroom and shower tiny. Biggest problem was the very intermittent wifi. Made watching TV in the room (internet only) or working impossible.

Wonderful pub and hotel, incidentally also great value. The food was amazing with excellent vegetarian and vegan options - in fact there is a whole separate vegan menu which everyone should check out because you should really have the sticky cauliflower wings! Great beers on draught too. Very friendly and helpful staff. The bed was very comfortable, clean and smart room with good facilities and toiletries. Highly recommended.
