We did the Passport to Paradise with 4 days each in Manado, Bangka, and Lembeh. Our Scoot flight arrived in Manado 2 hours late so it was good to see the smiling face of our driver Billy welcoming us and taking care of everything. The drive from the airport to the resort took over an hour with Saturday night traffic and a short stop at the supermarket. We had hoped to get a sim card and some money changed but that window had passed. We stayed in a premium deluxe cottage which was very lovely and spacious, with beautiful oceanfront views over the pool area, and lots of room for everything. The bed is two singles together (or could be twin) so a king size and was comfortable. Our aircon worked well, there is a water dispenser (hot/regular/cold) and coffee (with plungers) and tea, and a small drinks fridge (drinks in the fridge are charged extra). The bathroom was large with shower gel, shampoo and conditioner supplied. There was a lot of power points, mostly all with international fittings so great for charging/using devices. We had no Wi-Fi for the first day so it wasn’t possible to stay in touch with family and to use the resort’s online drinks and food menus but once fixed it worked well. All our meals were included in our package (mostly buffet style) but drinks including soft-drink and machine coffees were an additional charge. They have a spa offering massages and manicure/pedicure so we took advantage of an offer for a 90-minute massage for the price of 60 minutes (IDR 400k), that was really nice. The grounds of the resort are very tranquil and lush with lots of seating everywhere so you can relax in the lounge/bar or dining areas, or in a sun bed at the waterfront. The dive operation is well organised, and we had our dive guide Reinhart for all 3 destinations. They do two morning dives and then come back for lunch, then there is the option of an afternoon dive or to dive the house reef which is definitely worthwhile. The boats are well set-up and equipped, stable and comfortable, all with excellent skippers and crew. Rein had great knowledge, including scientific names of all the critters and we had a lot of laughs as well as enjoyable dives, he looked after us well. The staff were lovely and very attentive to all our needs, making a special effort to get to know the guests and their preferences. Our transfer to Bangka was by boat including two morning dives along the way, with the bags going by road and waiting in our room on arrival.

The staff are amazing, the grounds and accommodation is excellent the food is awesome and the diving even though the weather was not the best was simply amazing. Our dive guide and the boat team were brilliant. Alvian went out of his way to make our dive experience memorable and fascinating. The day trip to the village and volcano with Chandra as our guide was simply a must do. So informative, interesting and fun.

Perfekter Service und sehr liebes Personal, das sich alle Wünsche sofort merkt. Das Resort ist schön bewachsen, unser geschmackvolles Premium Deluxe Cottage lag am Seerosenteich. Die Wege sind kurz zum Restaurant, Bar, Pool, Tauchbasis mit Kameraraum (wie bei allen Murex Resorts) und Massageraum. Der Rezeptionsbereich befand sich gerade im Umbau und war daher nur provisorisch. Die Tauchbasis ist sehr gut organisiert, man erhält sein eigenes Fach und die Dive Guides sind super ausgebildet. Man taucht in kleinen Gruppen zu max. 4 Personen. Mit Abby hatten wir einen sehr lieben, kompetenten Guide. Die Tauchplätze sind sehr interessant, es gibt regelrechte Schildkrötenparadiese. Am Tauchplatz Lekuan 2 konnten wir insgesamt 12 Turtles beobachten. Eine hat mich beim Safety Stop begleitet. Das Essen ist lecker, abends gibt es teilweise a la carte, was man am Mittag vorbestellt. Die Tische sind oft direkt am Strand gedeckt. Ansonsten gibt es das Essen in Buffet Form und mit Themen Abenden. Wir haben vom Resorts mehrere Ausflüge vorgebucht, die alle sehr gut organisiert waren mit kompetenten Guides. Wir haben die Manado City Tour und die Highland Tour gemacht. Die Massage war auch sehr entspannend und im Vergleich zu Deutschland sehr günstig. Wir freuen uns, wenn wir das nächste Mal dort sein können und sind gespannt auf die neuen Bereiche!

Der Pick-up-Service vom Flughafen Manado hat sehr gut geklappt. Nach ca. 1 Stunde Fahrzeit sind wir gut im Resort in Manado angekommen. Unser Betreuer Brian hat uns in Empfang genommen und uns über den Ablauf informiert. Wie wir bereits im Vorfeld wussten, ist eine größere Baustelle im Resort aktiv. Deshalb wurden wir auch mit unserem Bungalow besser gestellt. Der Empfang und die Orientierung im Resort wurde uns sehr leicht gemacht. Alles war in kurzen Wegen erreichbar. Das gesamte Personal hatte unsere Namen und Wünsche bald auf den ersten Blick erkannt und somit auch sofort erfüllt. Das Tauchen an den Steilwänden war sehr schön und hin und wieder mit ziemlich schnell wechselnder Strömung gewöhnungsbedürftig. Letztlich blieben bei uns keine Wünsche offen. Nach 4 Nächten haben wir nach Murex Bangka gewechselt. Auch dort wurden wir willkommen geheißen und hatten keine Probleme uns an den Ablauf dort einzugewöhnen. Das Personal von Manado kam teilweise mit uns in die neue Unterkunft. Die Tauchguides bleiben, wenn möglich, bis zum letzten Resort/Aufenthalt gleich. Sollte das nicht möglich sein, wird man darüber sofort informiert. Wir hatten mehrere Guides und waren mit jedem sehr zufrieden! Unser Fazit: wir würden diese Tour (Passport to Paradiese) jederzeit wieder machen und können den Aufenthalt in jedem Resort nur empfehlen.

Our trip diving with MUREX MANADO was one of our most wonderful dive trips ever. The resort lies in a lovely tropical setting with a view of Manado Tua, the volcano off in the distance. Our accommodation was spacious, open, airy and clean. The restaurant served wonderful meals, many with themes, and the chefs worked diligently to prepare delicious and varied meals. The restaurant staff made us feel like family. We simply did not want for anything. The dive staff was superb taking great care for the safety of all divers and diligently pointing out the various creatures, coral and fish throughout the dives. Our dive guide wrote out on a tablet everything we saw on each dive. It was actually like a Dive Dream - the best kind. Of course, we want to return. My log book barely had enough room to list everything we saw on the dives. MUREX is very customer oriented in a personal way. We never felt like we were on the diving conveyor belt such as we have felt in other places. A true testament of an excellent and rewarding experience is the fact that we want to return. We are so very appreciative of our MUREX adventure.

I discovered Murex at the Asia Dive Expo in Singapore, and only found out after I booked that a lot of my friends have been to Murex. They said it’s the best resort in North Sulawesi, and I couldn’t agree more. What I love about the resort is its cleanliness, and hospitality. The rooms are spacious, and well thought about for divers who have plenty of gadgets (photographers). Aside from that, their staff are so attentive to the guests needs. In fact, I was surprised they’ve already remembered my name on the first day. It gives a personal touch. Aside from my love for Indonesian food, which the kitchen cooks perfectly, the chef and the waiting staff paid attention to my dietary restrictions and even makes sure I get my breakfast takeaway in the dive boat. I don’t think I need to comment on the quality of diving in Bunaken, bec it’s simply one of the best in Indonesia… but I do have to comment on how systematic the dive team operates. All the guides are very familiar with the fish species. As an avid diver, there were times I thought it’s no longer necessary to identify the common fishes, but they’re only doing their job (and doing it very well). Of course some other (new) divers may appreciate the extra service. I only have good words on the dive team’s professionalism and skill/training underwater. Bonus point that the boats are big and comfortable. Overall, I would recommend (any) Murex resort if you come to North Sulawesi. The experience is fantastic, I know I will be coming back!

Nous avons passé une semaine à Murex Manado : des plongées extraordinaires au cœur de la réserve de Bunaken, un resort de grande qualité : une chambre très confortable, un large choix au restaurant, et une équipe attentive à nos envies. Nous reviendrons !

Wir (Ehepaar 59 & 57 mit 35 bzw. 22 Jahren Taucherfahrung) haben die Passport to Paradise (PtP) Tour im Zeitraum 27. September bis 12. Oktober 2024 (endlich!) gemacht. Dieser Bericht geht in Umfang und Tiefe vielleicht etwas über das „normale“ Maß hinaus, aber die Erfahrungen und Erlebnisse auf dieser Tour haben uns sehr beeindruckt und verdienen daher eine eingehendere Beschreibung. Die PtP Tour beinhaltet drei Tauchresorts (Murex Manado, Murex Bangka und Lembeh Resort, siehe auch unsere weiteren Berichte zu den jeweils anderen Resorts). Anreise: Frankfurt-Singapur mit Singapore Airlines: guter Bordservice und die Flugrichtung „in die Nacht“ hinein hat die gut 12 Stunden recht schnell vergehen lassen; wer nicht sonderlich groß ist, kann mit der Economy-Class zurechtkommen, größere/schwerere Menschen sollten vielleicht über Premium Economy nachdenken. Weiterflug mit Scoot nach Manado (knapp 4 Std.), ebenfalls mit Bordservice und absolut okay. Die Begrüßung am Flughafen durch das Murex Manado Team war überaus herzlich und man hat sofort das gute Gefühl, hier ist man richtig. Man wurde vom ersten Moment an mit Vornamen angesprochen, mit einer Freundlichkeit und Offenheit aufgenommen, wie man es sich nicht besser erträumen kann. Jeder bekam noch am Flughafen eine Alu-Wasserflasche (mit Name tag, natürlich gefüllt und gekühlt), die man über die gesamten 14 Tage nutzen und anschließend auch behalten durfte. Und so perfekt organisiert hat sich das dann auch fortgesetzt. Der Transfer vom Flughafen ins Resort (ca. 50 Min.) führte sehr schnell vom Fahrzeug direkt ins gebuchte Zimmer, auf dem kurzen Weg dorthin bekam jedes Paar/jede Gruppe individuell noch eine kurze Führung durch das Resort. Bei einem (sehr guten!) Begrüßungscocktail gab es später dann eine angenehm kurze und prägnante Einweisung in die Örtlichkeiten und in den Ablauf der kommenden – in unserem Fall vier – Tage des Tauchprogramms in Manado, mit Schwerpunkt Bunaken „Wall Diving“. Die Bezeichnung trifft es sehr gut, auch wenn man schon den einen oder anderen „Drop off“ anderer Tauchdestinationen gesehen haben sollte. Bunaken ist schlicht fantastisch, was Flora und Fauna betrifft - wunderschöne Weich- und Hartkorallen gepaart mit viel, viel Fisch, „Critters“ im Riff und natürlich den unzähligen Turtles (meist Green, seltener Hawksbill), für die Bunaken bekannt ist (max. Turtle count bei einem TG: 43). Dive Trips am Morgen sind als 2-Tank dives in Bunaken geplant (ca. 30 Minuten Fahrtzeit). Insgesamt waren bei uns 6 Taucher an Bord und wir hatten einen Guide für uns beide. Für jeden Taucher liegt ein Badetuch bereit und zu den Oberflächenpausen gibt`s frische Früchte, Kekse, Wasser, Tee, Kaffee. Zum Mittagessen ist man wieder im Resort und kann danach nochmal einen Boots-TG in der Manado Bay machen oder einen Hausriff-TG (beides lohnenswert). Das Manado Restaurant Team hat einem jeden Wunsch von den Lippen abgelesen. Das Personal ist sehr gut geschult und auf die Bedürfnisse von tauchenden

Extremely friendly staff, excellent food, super competent dive guides and management of the dive center, super service, very well maintained rental equipment and help even with privately owned one, when problems, bungalow clean and comfortable, but ours was close to street, so little noisy at night to my taste, interesting, variable dive sites, not one visited twice in 12 dives, and not having seen all of them yet, would go there again immediately, Thank you, everyone, and especially Reykmon, our guide!

Obiettivo della vacanza era fare immersioni: da questo punto di vista, meraviglioso. Dive master/guida bravissimo. Attento e preciso. Per quanto riguarda, invece, la struttura si vede che è datata (abbiamo avuto qualche intoppo tecnico ma prontamente risolto) ; si mangia discretamente, a buffet. Come location, è immersa nel verde (molto bello) ma non c'è spiaggia ed è praticamente su un piccolo porto. Sono stati molto flessibili nel rimodulare il pacchetto di 10 immersioni a testa che avevamo (io ne ho fatte di più dei miei figli).

After months of planning, we finally arrived at Murex for our 2 week diving adventure - "Passport to Paradise" a.k.a. three island tour. We stayed at the Murex Manado and Murex Bangka resorts, and also at Lembeh Resort. We dove with Murex dive staff at all three resorts. Our rooms were lovely at both Murex resorts and all staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The ocean view from Bangka (which is an island and so a bit more rustic than Manado) was spectacular. We enjoyed our Murex Manado divemaster, Jhun, so much we requested him as our divemaster at Bangka and Lembeh. The diving was at times challenging due to strong and changing current directions, but it was all spectacular and great fun. It was a wonderful diving adventure and we look forward to a return visit at some future date!!

Plusses: comfortable bed, excellent anti-mosquito setup, good air con and ceiling fan, excellent food, nice (though not extremely efficient) staff, attractive grounds, nice pool though hard to get in and out of it, good boats for snorkeling excursions. Minuses: terrible wifi: usually non-functional in the room, when functional is slow. Electricity went off several times and water once. Hot water insufficient. Sink doesn’t drain. "Ocean view" is a lie - the rooms look out on the garden. Not all-inclusive: you pay extra not only for beer (which is reasonable) but for half the food choices on the menu (not reasonable). Most disappointing of all, the snorkeling is much worse than billed. The “house reef,” touted as "packed with beautiful corals and a variety of marine life,” is in reality practically nonexistent. At many excursion sites all a snorkeler sees (aside from turtles) is extensively bleached coral and a few tiny fish. The only sites with halfway decent snorkeling are on Siladen and behind Bunaken.
