First and foremost, the staff at Rodeway Inn Lemon Grove is exceptional. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine eagerness to assist. The front desk staff went above and beyond to ensure my check-in was smooth and hassle-free. They were incredibly knowledgeable about the area, providing me with helpful recommendations for local attractions and dining options. The rooms at this hotel are clean, spacious, and comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of cleanliness and attention to detail. The bed was incredibly cozy, and I had a great night's sleep every night during my stay. The amenities provided were top-notch, including a mini-fridge, which added to the convenience and comfort of the room.. Location-wise, the hotel is ideal. It's conveniently situated near major attractions, making it easy to access all that San Diego has to offer. Whether I wanted to explore downtown, visit the famous San Diego Zoo, or relax on the stunning beaches, everything was within a short drive from the hotel.

Smoke free room, smelled like it had been smoked in before. $160 is kind of high for the room. Surrounding area is ok. Parking is narrow, difficult for bigger trucks to park. Bed wasn't bad, mini fridge worked well. The TV had some damaged pixels. Ac worked well. Shower was nice, toilet didn't disappoint.

Do NOT book here as they will cancel your reservation last minute without any warning. I booked with them over a week ago for my stay in San Diego for a week and when I called to confirm my reservation they told me they cancelled it because the rate is very low. So basically they cancelled my room because I found a good deal and they just decided not to honor it. Not only that but nobody picked up when I called the first time. Then when I called back the second time they were extremely rude, yelling at me to call back at another time because they are busy, then before I could call back a 3rd time, a man called me back, yelled at me and told me he cancelled the reservation because of the low rate.

I booked this hotel online from Choice Hotels website and made biggest mistake as their reviews are manipulated. I won't even call this as "homeless shelters". I never seen homeless shelters in real life but whatever I have seen in movies and read about; homeless shelter, I am stating based on that. Below were few issues. 1) This hotel was full of homeless people on the property 2) This hotel has no lobby, yes, you are reading it correctly, no lobby. 3) There was fight going on between two people in the parking lot and no one bothered to take them out of property. 4) Choice Hotels customer service is worst in this case. I did not fell safe to stay with family in such hotel so I called Choice Hotel and they kept me on hold for more than 1 hour and said they can't help with anything. 5) I left the property due to all issues and donated money to the hotel and Choice. I can't take risk of staying in this hotel with my family

It is right off the 94 freeway, so it is easy to get in and out of downtown and other tourist spots as there is less traffic compared to I-8 and I-5. For me, the best thing was the convenience the hotel’s location was able to provide me. It was near downtown, San Diego State, Balboa Park, SD Zoo, and the Hub (pickleball) was just a short distance from the hotel. Plus the staff was great, we had an issue with the TV around 1:30am in the morning and the front desk agent fix it at the same time. I appreciate the staff was those little things.

The room was nice and clean. We got room service every day, which was essential for us since we were traveling with kids. The staff was really helpful and polite. The best thing about the place was it was hotel area was really quiet at night. Overall, a great and peaceful experience.
