First thing about the hotel is that it js huge hence if you stay here , you really need to do lots of walking. I was given a room in the B wing and most of the amenities are in the other wings. The hotel is on a massive ground with East and West side also with standalone cottages. The West side from what I knew is the more economical one, but walking from the wings within the West side is already a real workout. The location of the hotel is within walking distance from the JR Karuizawa station but the hotel runs free shuttle service regularly stopping right at the lobby of West side. The room is simplistic and well maintained typical in most Japanese hotels. What I like is that the wash basin is outside the shower room. Nothing fanciful about the room but large enough to have a sofa even for the basic rooms. As mentioned walking from my side of the wing to the onsen is a good 10 mins walk and also to the self service laundry area. Breakfast is good but very expensive if you did not include it at almost 4000 yen per person. There is a Famjly Mart convenience store right in the hotel which solves most of the issues. Overall a very decent hotel in this area.

From our recent visit to the Karuizawa Marriott Hotel, we're excited to share the essence of this secluded gem. With its sprawling suites and gourmet dining options, the hotel is a sanctuary of comfort amidst the snowy splendor of Karuizawa. The experience is further elevated by the warmth of the staff and the blissful moments spent in the onsen. 😍So Good: Impeccable Cleanliness: The hotel's dedication to a pristine environment was evident and appreciated. Heartwarming Service: The staff's attentiveness and warmth made our stay delightful. Restful Onsen: The onsen provided a haven of relaxation, enhancing our retreat. Delectable Breakfast: The diverse breakfast options were a culinary delight each morning. 🙁Not So OK: Secluded Location: Its distance from the city and public transport requires some planning. Seasonal Crowds: Winter brings the beauty of snow but also high demand and prices. 👌Just OK: 👨🦲Zen Minimalism: The room's minimalist Zen decor may not resonate with those in search of traditional luxury. Standard Amenities: The facilities met our needs without exceeding expectations. Ski Area Access: While the hotel offers a shuttle to the ski area, there is still a walk involved to reach the ski gates, which might be a consideration for some guests. 💡 Tips and Recommendation: ♨Onsen Choices: Opt for the building with its own onsen for a private dip, or brave the open-air onsen for a magical winter experience. 🚘Transport Planning: While there's a shuttle service, having private transportation is convenient. Marriott Bonvoy Benefits: Leverage Bonvoy membership for enhanced stay experiences; it's worth signing up for. 👏Conclusion: Capturing the magic of the Karuizawa Marriott Hotel in mere words is a challenge; it's an experience that truly needs to be felt personally. It's a destination that may very well become your next must-visit retreat.
We stayed at this hotel recently and really appreciated the stay. The stay actually started off bumpy with some misunderstanding of our reservation that had us cramped into a small room with no possibility of adding a roll-away. The young woman who checked us in said there was nothing she could do, so we took her for her word and proceeded to our room. When we got to our room, we realized that we would end up with a disastrous stay contrary to what we were expecting--a wonderful and serene one--as the room was way too small. When the bell person (Rajesh) brought our luggage, we informed him, that the room would not work for our family of four. Though it was not his responsibility per se, Rajesh immediately went to work to seek out any other options we could have to accompany us and, long story short, he helped us stay in a bigger room that was more appropriate--though considered a downgrade. The fact that a bell person would go out of his realm of responsibility to meet our needs was truly appreciated allowing us all to fully enjoy our stay. We ended up having dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant and fully appreciated the friendliness and service of the restaurant staff as well as the healthy, delicious, and local foods that were served. There is no doubt we would return to stay there again thanks to Rajesh and his excellent customer service!
訪訪客This was the only English-run hotel we stayed at during our 4 week trip. Stayed for 2 nights. We're English, but even we thought it was eccentric - in a good way! Chris was really helpful beforehand, met us at the station, and then gave us loads of advice and info during our stay, took us places up in the hills so we could walk back, etc. etc. The basics: The rooms were comfortable, spotlessly clean, the food was excellent, interesting decor, great British music and chat ( with some AC/DC from the Aussie chef). Plus: Chef made home-made jaffa cakes which were the best you'll ever have. Turtle Doves on the bird table. All felt very relaxed and easy - just what we needed after our 8 hour shinkansen journey from Hokkaido. Thoroughly recommended
訪訪客Very charming resort with lovely rooms and good facilities. We loved the open air bath that you can book for 45 min for yourself. The room was spacious and clean and the place felt like a lovely place to spend a weekend surrounded by nature. The only reason for the low rating was the hotel restaurant, that was extremely disappointing. It was one of the top three most expensive meals of our entire Japan trip, yet the only really bad one. The staff was lovely and attentive, but the food was very poor. They claim to have this cool concept around fresh local vegetables, but the thing is that they don't manage to make good food out of them. The vegetables we got served were overcooked, watered out, with no taste whatsoever and no processing beyond simply being boild or thrown on a plate with some dressing or into a gelatine. The beef was also badly cooked, and the wine by the glass was low quality. The bread tasted old and dry. Very sad to be giving such bad feedback, but we were really disappointed by the experiece and we felt absolutely tricked. This would have been forgivable for a 3000 yen meal but not for a 9000 yen one.
訪訪客My mum and I really enjoyed our time at Hotel Marroad Karuizawa. The rooms were the most spacious we had ever come across in Japan and we could both open our suitcases comfortably. They were very clean and the beds were comfortable. The service staff were very professional and helpful as well. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet on one of our mornings there. Some of the drawbacks: the hotel is older in terms of style and design, although extremely well-maintained. Our room was on the floor above the lobby and there was no elevator, and there was no elevator or ramp from the hotel driveway to the lobby upstairs. The concierge was very kind to help us with our luggage, however. Overall, strongly recommended!
