A good solid hotel. Receptionist very welcoming even at such a late hour of the night. A wedding reception was still in full swing at midnight. Great transport links on to the A23

First the staff - they are not at fault and are helpful nice people. The hotel...where do you start, old, tired, carpets scruffy & stained, bedding feels stale, cant open the windows (Health & safety) so stuffy and airless, towels the same as the carpets. Decent shower to be fair and parking is great but burgers like ice hockey pucks, salt overload and a chef that went home before we could order dessert at 9.30! Breakfast average and for the price this isnt worth the money. Only stayed there because I couldnt get in my usual hotel and it was a great reminder of why we stopped using it.

Used this hotel on business pre pandemic and it has gone downhill. Rooms are dated. Beds very hard. Bathrooms tired. Restaurant…….not good at all. We were a group of 8 with only 5 other people in the restaurant. Food took ages to arrive. Burgers were like ice hockey pucks. Fish and chips dry. The worst thing was everything seemed be cover in salt….not nice at all. Then at 9.20 pm we asked for desert and were told that the chef had shut the kitchen…..unbelievable! The only good thing about the hotel is the plentiful free parking when you stay there.

This hotel is lovely. We came here for a wedding . Fantastic venue and really great friendly professional staff . The hotel is immaculately clean. the rooms are spacious . The food served was perfection . I’m not sure how they got so many fish dishes out and cooked them so delicately . Impeccable .

Catering mothers day it was OK. Finger sandwiches very basic with the crusts on. Cream cheese in smoked sal.on sandwich was not cream cheese but pureed cottage cheese. Yuk. Rest was mediocre and sat at its 3 star level. Staff were all pleasant but lounge off the reception area smelt like something had died under the floor boards.

Unfortunately this hotel is a bit worn. Over priced for what it is. The rooms are a bit tied and need some TLC. It seems that not many door closers work, every door banged shut, not what you want after you go to sleep. Shocked to wake up to beams of light coming through holes in the curtains. Very dated TV's in the rooms, remote didn't work. The bed was very lumpy and the springs twanging on every move. We didn't eat so I can't comment on the food but the menu was limited and maybe not aimed at the hotel user. Maybe a TV or something in the bar for the guests to wind down after work. Limited in the area to go walk about. Limited take away. One positive £4.80 for a pint. Friendly staff. Big carpark.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel a number of times in the 1990s and, though I'm sure there must have been changes since, it seemed just as it was before. From experience, I know it is a very creaky hotel, so I made sure I was on the first floor and I suggest you do too. It might well not be the case now, but you always knew there was somebody above you when I stayed previously. I haven't been in a hotel for many years where I chose breakfast from a menu and was served it. That added to the time travel feeling. There were only a handful of guests when I went in, so I wonder whether you might have to wait when busy? I certainly didn't, and my breakfast, though not exactly generous in portion, was delicious - good quality food properly cooked. Staff were all very helpful and I have no complaints. There is some refurbishment going on, and if you look past the cosmetics it is comfortable enough. I would say that the premium paid for the convenient location means that while I don't feel cheated, I would not book here if I was looking for value for my money.

Stayed for a week. Lovely large double room. Food was amazing, from the full English breakfast to my absolute favourite the sticky toffee pudding ( best I’ve ever tasted). Every member of staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for you . Beautiful setting. Will definitely be back . Thankyou 🥰

Cheap and cheerful, didn’t expect much given the price and reviews but I have to say the rooms where better than expected and the staff so very helpful, my only downside was the breakfast, buffet breakfast with little options, most of the Tins were empty or only dregs left so a bit disappointed from that but otherwise if you need a bed for the night I would recommend
