Moab, UT is only a short drive away as well and has Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, the Colorado River, camping, and world-class mountain biking. If you like boating/fishing there are multiple breath-taking lakes within a short drive to explore. Mesa Verde National Park is also a short drive away. The selection of outdoor activities are endless. Furthermore, Durango has festivals year-round including The Iron Horse bike race, Durango Days, Taste of Durango, Snowdown, and countless others. And all of theses festivals take place downtown so that if you are lucky enough to be here during one, all you have to do is step foot outside in order to be in the middle of the festivities.
