聖馬丁旅館(St Martins Guest House)

Beautiful quaint guest house, hosted by the kind and very helpful John and his lovely wife who went above and beyond. John was helpful in sharing information about local attractions as well as nice places to eat. Really enjoyed a quiet weekend away at the coast. Must stay if you’re in Dover.

The best thing about this property is its location. Its website lists it as a B and B, but there was no breakfast. The owner is not at all amenable yo early check-in or late check out, necessitating for us a 2 1/2 hour wait with no services at a cruise terminal. Additionally, neither Kleenex nor shampoo was provided. Amenities were basic.

We stayed in two rooms here for a night before joining our cruise and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. It is close to the white cliffs of Dover and Dover castle and only a mile from the port. St Martins is very well located. John, the concierge was amazing and always wanted to please. As other reviews noted, he is very knowledgeable of the area. The rooms were very clean. As others have stated St. Martins is a guest house. Rooms are small and basic and there isn't any air conditioning. If those things are important to you you are better off booking a large hotel. We felt the positives of this charming place far outweighed any of that other stuff and inexpensive at about 100 pounds a night.

Close to the Castle. Free on street parking opposite the guest house. Large bedroom with a sitting area. It is dated, but clean and does the job. Convenient to walk into town. 5 stars for John who works there. Such a lovely, friendly guy.

John was great to work with during our stay. There is no sitting space outside your room in case you arrive early or leave later and no food service option. Very close to Dover castle. Bed not that comfortable. Dated decor and the shower is literally in the room and not a separate bathroom.

John goes over and beyond to make sure everything is OK. From the pleased to meet you welcome he was there at every turn until the cherry wave goodbye. Invaluable personal service!

If you want traditional and modern go to the chain hotel a block away. We chose the hotel for the location and tradition. Yes, the rooms are small and uniquely furnished but that added to the charm and experience, just a block to walk up the hill to visit Dover Castle (a MUST) and a couple of blocks down the hill to a couple of great pubs that John (our most excellent host) directed us to. Also just a few blocks down to the town center with unique little shops & stores and a few blocks to the "modern" shopping area with grocery & depar**ent stores, a theater, bakery & cafes.

Excellent location to walk to the Dover Castle and White Cliff. Also near the ferry docks. Easy walking distance to restaurants, grocery stores and coffee shops. John, the manager, was absolute charm, courteous and helpful. Our room was very spacious and comfortable We loved it!!
