霍爾特住宿飯店(Holt Lodge Hotel)

The hotel is set in nice, well kept grounds. The photo certainly does it justice. The interior is good, with a nice bar and restaurant area with outdoor seating. The problems, however, are more fundamental. The rooms are a bit tired and well look well used although the bathrooms appear to have been quite recently updated and have nice fixtures and a good walk-in shower. Bed was comfortable enough and the linen was clean and fresh - but you'll be ******** on whether or not you get a good night's sleep. The hotel is situated about 20 yards from the road and there is a lot of traffic noise to contend with. The hotel have tried to combat this with double glazing but without air-con who wants to have their windows shut in summer? However, worse than the traffic noise was the sound of the occupants of the room above. Were they noisy and playing loud music ? No. They merely walked around their room like anyone else, but the structure of the floor is so bad that every step they took squeaked, creaked and groaned like there were a couple of baby hippos up there. We didn't complain.....what on earth could be done? Short of pulling the place down and rebuilding, it I don't know how you fix this place. Sadly for the Holt, I never return to hotels where can't be sure of getting a good night's sleep.

It has been a while since I felt it necessary to give such a bad review. This place should be avoided. My son got food poisoning here. The restaurant service was so slow that it begged belief. My sunglasses were stolen by a member of staff I believe. They are always trying to con you. And then, if that were not enough - they tried to charge us for damage to the room that had nothing to do with us. If that were not enough - the rooms are very shabby, and good luck getting proper room cleaning. This place is truly awful. They can't even pour a proper pint of Guiness.

Rooms were a little tired looking however clean and comfortable. Bar and restaurant area looked recently updated and was very warm and welcoming. All staff were very friendly and attentive, good breakfast. Would stay again.

Not enough bar staff on . Was there for a wedding and the wait for a drink was beyond belief . The bar staff worked hard but just needed more help Other than that was good

The hotel had nice surroundings around the hotel and the bar/restaurant area looked nice and modern. The mattress in our room was comfortable and plenty of parking. unfortunately the cooked breakfast was awful and inedible due to it being cold, over cooked and left stood for hours. The rooms were also tired and could have done with a better clean (we had crisps all over the bathroom floor).

Very easy to find, lovely setting, big restaurant with good food and a nice sized room with an excellent rainfall showerhead!

Really nice hotel with good seating area outside. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. However the huge pothole on the entrance needs to fixed.

Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Good quality, simple food, and the whole place was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We'd definately come back

Bath was disgusting not cleaned hairs in the bath, black mould between tiles and around the bath. Reception closes at ten. They rang us when we were out to say reception was closing and we wouldn't be able to get our key, we would have to use a side door that would be unlocked, and they would leave door to our room unlocked. Got back at eleven was a glass panel on the top half of the door with a large crack one side to the other. This was only access to the corridor where the rooms are, no access to the hotel. I wondered if this door was unlocked all night and anyone could wander in off the street in the middle of the night. Wanted to go into the hotel for a coffee and have a read save waking my partner at 6 10 and couldn't get in the hotel. Breakfast was just warm wasn't a help yourself hot buffet breakfast. You told the waitress what you didn't like from the items on the menu, so for £30 for two it's not as good value compared to helping yourself from a hot buffet. Was disappointed
