First the good things. It is across the street, in front of the train station at Bern. It was perfect for us as we were planning to (and did) go to a different city every day. They also gave us a voucher so we could use all Bern public transportation during our stay. I dont know if it is a standard in Bern, but it was welcomed. On the other hand, dont expect the hotel to be a luxury or modern one. The hotel is simple, to put it nicely. At some hours, during the day, the entrance had a bad smell. We did not book the breakfast, but, when we checked it, it turned out to be a wise decision. Room heating can only be controlled by opening windows. Pluggin laptops, phones and other things that needed charging was an exercise in logistics. The people at the front desk were all over the spectrum. The lady who received us was incredibly nice. That was it. Everybody else at the desk seemed to dislike their job and were more than willing to let you feel it.

The room is beautiful and big, with a great bed, a small fridge, and a large bathroom. There are two elevators, there's a supermarket next door, and the tram is nearby. The location is fantastic, right in the center. The city is wonderful too, I loved the bears! On the first night, the air conditioning started leaking. The next day I had quite a puddle on the floor. I told reception and within a few hours they had fixed the problem and cleaned the room, a very fast and wonderful service. I didn't have problems with it again and the air conditioning worked perfectly, for which I was very glad as it was summer and very hot outside.
HOTEL AMBASSADOR BERN An ideal mix of good location, excellent staff & facilities We chose Hotel Ambassador primarily because it offered free parking service as we were travelling on rent-a-car and didn't have much idea about parking houses in Bern But the hotel turned out to be much better than our expectations. POSITIVES (+) The location is brilliant especially if you're new to the city. Close proximity to the tramp stop and ideally located in a neat, clean neighborhood. (+) I got a message from the hotel one day in advance summarizing all details of the stay and the city. Special thanks to Dominika Motykova who sent this message which really helped me book my free tramp tickets and get ready for the hotel stay (+) The staff and service are very good. Smooth check-in and check-out experience (+) I got a two bedroom option as we were a family of 2 adults and 2 children. This was really awesome as kids were independent and loving their own room (+) Views from the room especially with the barn and cattle side is breathtaking. Highly recommended to go for this view instead of city / old town view (+) Abel at the bar was very friendly and gentle during service hours in the evening. He chit chatted about our country, stay and gave advice on the tourist attractions. NEGATIVES (-) The hotel is slightly outdated in terms of infrastructure with old styled keys for opening doors, slightly old furniture & upholstery. The walls and carpeting inside the hotel is 90s styled. (-) The most painful aspect I experienced was the bed which was of poor quality with the mattress & pillows being really off. I was sleepless on both nights that I stayed here. (-) The pool is not heated and has limited space for people with only 4-5 beds and chairs (-) Access from basement parking to the main hotel is through a ringer which new comers may not know. No clear signage or messaging is written anywhere on how to go inside from the basement. I had to literally drag all the luggage by myself to the lobby for elevator access Overall, based on service / location / neighborhood, the place is Highly Recommended Rating: 8 / 10
My Novotel experience this summer was beyond awful. We stayed at Novotel in Bern and the one in Geneva. The Novotel in Bern has a convenient location near the tram stop and with free public transport that served us well. However that’s where the positive ends. The room wasn’t set up for the three of us and then we had to ask for someone to come in and set up the third bed for our son. They set it up in a really awkward way which we then had to redo ourselves. Check in took over an hour of waiting. We watched three members of staff serving one couple and then a single other member of staff checking people in taking 15-20 minutes at a time. The front entrance was constantly blocked with parked cars. The hotel is serviced by two lifts (elevators) and for such a large hotel this really isn’t enough especially when staff use it for deliveries during peak busy times. My experience at Novotel Geneva wasn’t any better.
I recently just got back from a work trip where I stayed at the Ibis Styles Bern City for 2 nights and would highly recommend this as a place to stay. We needed somewhere reasonably priced with good amenities nearby and functional to work from - this hotel ticked all the boxes. The reception staff were really friendly on arrival and it's great that your booking comes with free use of the cities public transportation. The rooms are modern. with extremely comfy beds and all the facilities you would need. My only complaints about the room would be that the pillows were smaller than normal size and the towels weren't full body size, but those are only small things. The breakfast buffet was good and you can borrow a glass bottle to fill up with water on your floor which was handy. Across the road there are lots of restaurants, a superb coffee shop and a supermarket, everything you could need within walking distance. I would definitely choose to stay here again should I need to return to Bern.
訪訪客This hotel is a short bus ride from the main train station. The rooms are modern & ours was large. No one & no instructions on how to turn on the lights or operate the roll down shutters or anything else in the room. It was frustrating. There are large patio doors (no patio though) that open with electric roll down shutters. But our room faced busy train tracks & so leaving those doors open meant hearing VERY frequent train traffic late into the night & then starting again in the early morning. It wasn’t pleasant. Another thing to know about this hotel is the A/C is controlled & is central to the ENTIRE hotel and it’s not cool in the rooms🥵. There is NO adjusting it in your room or for your room 🥵. It is just what it is. We were advised to open our patio doors to get more air🤪. That would work if it’s cool outside AND there were not the train traffic! There is no ventilation fan in the bathroom and that just adds humidity to the room with no way to vent it. So this hotel is modern meets we don’t trust you. We would not stay here again & from now on even if the hotel says there is a/c we will have to ask the further question about who controls it & the temp.
The worst experience of my life! I planned to visit the beautiful city of Bern with my family a few years ago. The visit to the city was wonderful and to top it off I chose a four star “Boutique Hotel” to stay with my family and have a great experience. UNFORTUNATELY, THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN! The hotel put my family in a room on the top floor in the ATTIC with small windows and no air circulation. To solve this, the “four star Boutique Hotel” put a fan in the room. Apart from this problem, the room had a hydraulic problem and the hotel found a very creative solution to solve the problem! The entrance door to the room was cut and through it passed a tube that entered through the outside of the wall reaching the bathroom with the door also cut! a work of art that unfortunately does not match the expectations I had for a “Boutique Hotel” in Bern - Switzerland! A very sad experience! I do not recommend this hotel to anyone! ( attached photos )
