NIHI was amazing in every way. From the room, to the beach, to the food and all the great staff, it was as close to perfect as you could get. The resort felt completely secluded with nearly two miles of beach all to yourself. Combine that with the great cause they stand for and the opportunities they have brought many of the locals to Sumba and you would have a hard time not choosing this destination over any other in Indonesia. We will be back!

It’s hard to know where to start with this review. Everything was wonderful. We stayed in one of the Maranga Villas. The interior spaces were beautiful and well designed. The Villas has a nice private pool and a terrace with bale. Great places to peacefully hang out. Walking through the garden, you’ll come to your very own hut by the shore with a bed, minibar, and loungers. Great place for the sunset. The whole vibe of the place very relaxed yet very professional. The restaurant was outstanding! Every morsel that went in my mouth was perfect. We didn’t try the spa—next time, definitely. For me, the highlights of this stay was visiting the Sumba Project and the English lessons. Our visit to the Sumba Project included one of the malaria clinics, and going to a local school to serve a special high-protein lunch to the kids. You can read about the Sumba Project elsewhere, so suffice it to say that they do great work. The English lessons were the highlight of the stay. We spent item answering questions that the kids had, and got to participate in the lessons. The kids are super curious and asked great questions.

Simply the best place I've been in my life. Nihi Sumba és sin exagerar la definición perfecta de paraíso. Visiting Nihi was on bucket list for years seeing the culture and the simplicity of the place. Everything iz amazing. The scenery, the food, and the amazing and attentive staff. The local community was the highlight of the stay and how the staff can bring all the guests altogether.

Our stay at Nihi was the most unique experience we have ever had. Nihi is well worth the visit and my husband and I will be back every chance we get. Everything is so well thought out and the staff are all so friendly and helpful. The resort offered so many fun activities to keep us occupied as well. Surfing was our favorite! We surfed everyday with Mark. He was absolutely incredible! Nihi has an amazing setup for my husband and I. My husband is an advanced surfer and I am fairly new to surfing and struggle to get into waves on my own. Mark from tropicsurf helped get me into waves at Occy's left. It was my first time using Tropicsurf, and definitely won't be my last. Mark is such an amazing coach, he was so patient with me and he gave me the confidence to surf bigger waves than I ever thought I would. He always knew the best waves to choose for me and if a wave was too steep he would pull me back and make sure I was safe. When he wasn't surfing with me he was helping my husband choose the best waves. He really made our stay. We are already planning our next trip back to Nihi!

In short, this is paradise. In a bit more detail: it's a beautiful bay on the undeveloped island of Sumba in Indonesia. The sea is clear and warm, the beach is a 2km stretch of golden sand, and the resort is nestled into the woods by the beach with low-level buildings made out of largely traditional style rooves which makes it hardly noticeable, with minimal impact on the natural beauty of the area. The staff are incredibly friendly and kind - nothing is too much for them. The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully decorated. There are some great excursions - I'd recommend doing the Spa Safari. And importantly the hotel plays a big role investing in and developing the local population. This was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had.
