This seemed a rather strange place. And sadly did not live up to our expectations of it. Good points: Best thing is the location: 2 min walk to bus stop, beach, small supermarket and start of main area for Perissa. Beds and pillows are comfortable Towels changed every couple of days, and bins emptied daily. Its reasonably clean. Bad points: They have a major problem with the drains - certainly in the room we had. The bathroom smelt of rotten eggs all the time. The bathroom had just a tiny window, so little fresh air could circulate. We were lucky that our room had a small outdoor seating area that was private, but the standard rooms for 2 on the ground floor have a communal courtyard, so not private at all. Overall appearance both inside the rooms and externally is tired and a little tatty. Certainly not as pristine looking as the pictures indicate. Due to the layout of the rooms, you are heavily reliant on having considerate neighbours if you are want a quiet stay. There is no soundproofing, and any sound echos around and up from the courtyard. We stayed for 4 nights. First 2 were fine, with just quiet chatter etc in the evenings from people sitting out enjoying the warmth of the late evening with a drink. Then a noisy family of 4 arrived and took up 2 of the courtyard rooms. They let their young daughter run and scream around the whole building from early until late at night. They played music from their phones at full volume and took/made constant calls on speakerphone, often just shouting at one another. It most certainly spoilt what had been a peaceful time up to that point. The problem with this kind of behaviour is that the owners appear to not live on site, and so would not be aware of any late night, inconsiderate noise etc. But the strangest thing was the issue I had with the *********** site over the reservation. When I booked, it said payment would be taken in advance from the card details on my account. (Fair enough) However, payment was not taken in advance, so when we arrived and they asked for payment, I used the same credit card I have stored on my Booking account. Later that same day, I noticed 3 emails from Booking - the first saying Villa Dimi had informed them that my card details stored on the site were incorrect. The second saying they had declined my card, and the third informing me my reservation was cancelled. (After I had successfully paid Villa Dimi directly with the same card!) This was all just not true. So are they implying that cards are invalid to avoid paying fees to a third party booking site?? Overall we loved Perissa and hope to return one day to explore more of the area. We did not let our disappointment of Villa Dimi affect our time in Santorini. However, at €100 per night, I think there are much better places to stay in Perissa.
