Room was a little tight. Architecture and decor was gorgeous. Some amenities missing that lesser hotels include such as tea or hot, chocolate, and microwave. Those are great conveniences. staff was very courteous. I didn’t like that they added tip to room service of their choosing despite your designation or giving cash I think the restaurant staff did that. there’s additional valet parking $45 and destination fee $35 (though destinations fee can be used for room service credits ) both daily fees,

Amazing experience here! Greeted and assisted right away with super friendly staff. Overly accommodating! We arrived early so they held onto our bags while our room was getting ready (was still ready very early). Was able to walk around the grounds and enjoy their outdoor patio. Beds were super comfortable and the room was very clean. In the morning, walked over to the cafe that had live music and heaters and enjoyed a morning stroll around the town. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

The only negative comment I would make is about the food. I had an appetizer in the bar and the surly bar tender brought me a ceviche that tasted like boiled shrimp in canned tomato sauce. I tried the food again later that night for room service. I got a chicken entree that was so salty I could not eat it. They did credit me for this when I checked out.

We stayed 2 nights for an add-on to a trip to California. The hotel and grounds were lovely and very well maintained. All common spaces and our room were spotless. Staff was very friendly and accommodating which was so nice to experience. We enjoyed the pool area and a soak in the hot tub. We had breakfast both days at Cafe Real which was part of the hotel. Very good food at great prices. Just a few things were a surprise that we did not know about or expect: the only parking option is valet and is was $45 per night. Because San Juan Capistrano is so walkable, we never used our car, so the $90 extra expense was a disappointing. There is also a $25 per day "destination fee". That was another $50 added to our bill. At least the hotel offers a $25 credit per day for food purchased at the hotel so it was a wash with our two breakfasts. We would have preferred to truly understand the full cost per night versus having felt a little like we were "nickeled and dimed". Full transparency is always preferred so you leave feeling good about the experience and not begrudge the additional $140 at check out. Lastly, if you are sensitive to fragrance you might have an issue. A customized scent was piped through the entire hotel and it was lovely at first but became an irritant within a few hours.

I was charged twice for my room, which made it very inconvenient for our stay seeing as the rate wasn’t cheap and that was supposed to be our spending money for our weekend getaway: very very disappointing.

This hotel is so beautiful and very comfy. It is a little pricey and for the amount that you pay there shouldn't be a wait list for the pool area.

We loved our stay however the only complaint we have is the shower water was luke warm at best.. My entire family complained the shower water wouldn't get hot. Unfortunately that is the reason we wont return on our next visit scheduled for February.

First time staying at this hotel. Very nice and easy walking to everything especially the The Mission. If you stay here take water with you to your rooms, hotel does not provide water bottles. From my room it was so difficult to call front desk. I had to keep trying and would get an answering service. If you need assistance i recommend calling from your cell phone.

Wonderful property next to the Mission. Pool and jacuzzi are great. Close to freeway so we could easily get to where we were visiting family. Highly recommended
