The hotel's elevators were not functioning. The front desk staff was not helpful. The room was run down, and the thermostat didn't work. The staff said they would have someone fix it, but they never did, and I was told there were no additional blankets for the bed. (temp never came above 62 degrees farenheit).
Also, I ended up in a 'Handicapped Accessible' room even though I did not request one, and they insisted I had asked for one. Even if I were someone needing a wheelchair, this room would not have actually been accessible. The room was arranged for wider rolling, and the bathroom sink was roll-under, but the shower was a regular bathtub with sides. There were two handle bars, but they were not place in a way that would help someone transfer from a wheelchair to a shower chard (had there been one, which there wasn't). Also the shower head was higher than a short standing person could reach, and there was no hand-held shower head accommodation. I have pictures if anyone wants to see them.
Also - and not as critical as an accessible shower - the iron was up so high I could barely reach it, and I'm 5'8".
To add insult to injury, I had modified my room reservation within the Trip.com to leave a day earlier than originally booked. I was well-within the cancellation/modification agreed timeline, however Trip.com has said (even after three attempts with different support people) that they could not refund me for the one day I would not be staying because the hotel would not refund a third party. When I asked the hotel, they said that if I didn't stay I (or the third party Trip.com) would not be charged. So WHY is Trip.com refusing to refund me the money for the night I did not stay? I will never use Trip.com again, I will never prepay again, and I certainly will never stay at the Wyndham Rochester again. Not worth the small savings over other hotels and travel companies.
