琥珀小屋汽車旅館(Amber Lodge)

Vom Flughafen Queenstown mit der Busroute 1 sind es ca. 20 min zur Haltestelle Stanley Street und dann sind es knapp 3 min zu Fuß. Die Zimmer sind groß und waren gut eingerichtet (Küche mit allen drum und dran zum selber kochen) Das wichtigste ist natürlich, es war alles super sauber. Das Wasser ist auch echt heiß. Der Duschdruck/Strahl könnt ein bisschen besser sein (meckern auf hohem Niveau). Bei kalten Tagen haben die Betten auch eine Heizdecke mit verbaut. Zum Zentrum von Queenstown und zur Seilbahn sind es ca. 5min zu Fuß. Man kann mit dem Hotel echt nichts verkehrt machen!

Three good things about this Motel is the location, the shower has hot water and its price. Everything else with regards the budget room (No.3) is not - trust me. It's tired, it's small and shabby. If you're okay with that, fine but just be warned. We cannot recommend it at all I'm afraid, unless by some miracle it has a makeover. There are loads of things to do in Queenstown, which is only a shirt walk away and it is a great place.

Good location but the facility is basically run down. It needs a new carpet, the window does not shut completely so bugs or insects can get it, the shower does not drain right away, got some neck pain from using their pillows, etc. Not asking for too much but just a decent accommodations.

Worse Motel we have ever stayed in. Admittedly we booked a budget room as we had in other places on our trip. The room was really small, the carpet was filthy and the the room had an awful musty smell to it. The toilet window when opened, opened up into the motels laundry so there was absolutely no privacy at all. As for the shower. We had to make sure we had one before the staff started up the washing machines otherwise we were showering in cold water. There was no ventilation in the bathroom, you could leave the toilet door open with the window open but there again, no privacy. Don't even think about trying to use the guests washing machine. A notice on the machine tells you that it takes over 2 hours for a simple wash. 90 minutes into the 2 hours and the machine still hadn't filled with water. The only good thing this place has going for it is it's close proximity to town. Would never in a million years go anywhere near this place again.

had a great 4 night stay at Amber Lodge. Rooms are a bit tired BUT what a fantastic location. views of the lake and gondola. 3 minutes walk into town. very clean and comfortable room and bed. everything you would want in the kitchenette. the staff were so helpful and friendly. we would highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again great value for money. on-site parking is a bonus.

I found a sock under the bed, there was no heating except a small / noisy heater. During the night the room was cold but you could not sleep with the heater on. Closing the WC door could keep the room warmer. Room was just large enough for one suitcase to be opened. Location was great, walking distance to bus stop and to the center of town.

Nice greeting at reception nice room would be a nice view if it was a clear day wi fi is good close to Super market and walking distance to the township heating is good clean and tidy nice size room a nice place to stay in Queenstown

We enjoyed our stay at Amber lodge. The property and the room was tidy and clean. Really close to everything, we walked almost everywhere because it was just so convenient. Great view from the room. The wall heater wasn’t amazing but there was a smaller heater as well that really got the room warm. There were 2 of us that stayed for 8 nights. Our room could have slept 3 people but would have felt quite cramped. Plenty of room for just the 2 of us though. Facilities all worked well and the bed was super comfy. One of the lights wasn’t working but we didn’t need to use it so didn’t notice. Parking was perfect for us. Plenty of room and easy to access. Reasonably priced compared to other places similar. Over all a nice place to stay.

Arrived at 4:30pm on a Saturday. Sign on office window said to check in by phone. This took a few tries but was quickly done. Went to allocated room and had good first impression. Older holiday motel style, very clean, kitchen, studio bedroom lounge dining with view of shops and lake. Went to bathroom (as you do after a trip) but toilet was broken - no water - unusable. Tried reflushing it but nope, water ran continually. Husband wanted a cup of tea (again, as you do after hours of travelling) but first I tried to phone owner then left text messages, asking for a change of room or immediate toilet fix. We wasted our first hour and couldn’t unpack; didn’t know if we should just give up and find another motel. It was a short trip so we went off to the shops for bathroom and our drinks. Got a reply from owner who went in and fixed toilet. Excuses about cost of plumber and lack of income past 18 months. This is credible but not my problem. As a paying guest having a working toilet is non-negotiable. We had to open the toilet lid and press buttons twice during our two night stay to fix the toilet ourself. Easy to do but on a short holiday at Queenstown prices that’s completely unacceptable. We paid in advance, lower price than some motels but comparable to several much nicer places we’ve stayed before. Also there’s no service done during your stay. We were given clean towels when I asked but I then read on last page of old motel compendium that you have to pay for room cleaning (no price was stated). The owner was very nice to talk with when we were leaving so I didn’t bring up the problems again but we wouldn’t go back. A note on the wall could have explained how to fix toilet problem (even an excuse that a plumber was to fix it next week although I now see bad reviews about this from two years ago).
