Très bel endroit, chambre spacieuse et bien équipée avec une vue magnifique. Bons petits déjeuner surtout pris sur la terrasse. Village de charme, personnel agréable et accueillant. Une bonne alternative à la foule de la côte et en face de Ravello

Hotel review Palazzo SAN Giovanni Resort - Pontone, Amalfi Coast. Firstly I would not call this a resort more like a serviced up market b&b. It is set in the amazingly stunning hills of Pontone above the Amalfi coast. The view is nothing short of spectacular, and the rooms are beautifully decorated in traditional Italian coastal decor. The location is quite away from the main town of Amalfi but only a 10 mins drive down the mountain. You can walk up from Amalfi but it is about a 30 min hike up A-LOT of stairs! Roads are very very narrow and at times difficult to negotiate. That being said…Whilst we were there a young local man lost his life after the bus he was driving ran off the road, this in turn closed off the road and access to the hotel for 3 days . There was a few bad reviews circulating because people couldn’t access the hotel. This is not the hotels fault! We even had to drive up to Scala and scale down the 300 stairs! Not sure exactly how many but there was a lot! *BED - Hard 3/5 *PILLOWS - Great 5/5 *FOOD - 4/5 typical European breakfast, pastries, cold meats, cheese, eggs, fruit yoghurt, all tasty all plausible *AMENITIES- 2/5 No Milk provided, I had to go and ask, was told we can’t keep milk in the rooms it would go off! (I can’t think of too many hotels where long life milk isn’t provided), No Coffee or sugar a couple of tea bags and that’s it. Mini Bar supplies $$. Shampoo only. SERVICE- 4/5…needs a better concierge service and English speaking/understanding host. PROS- •Stunning Views- Great off the beaten path motel style accommodation. Beautifully appointed, decorated and clean. •Good Service, although 1st gentleman not overly friendly, nice though. 2nd gentleman we met was super friendly and helpful. English wasn’t great all round. •It’s very traditional…. it’s an adventure! •Great walking tracks for those that love to walk/hike! •Quite a few very nice restaurants and bars dotted around close by, the local town square which you pass through to get to hotel is quaint. Has a little bar/restaurant/general groceries. CONS- •STAIRS To get into the hotel you have to climb about 25 uneven stairs. And follow a cobblestone pathway for a few minutes to get to the hotel. The manager did come down and meet us at the car, however only took 2 bags up for us (we had a few and he took the lightest ones) we had to drag the rest and our tired selves up the hill. The whole place is built into the side of a hill! •PARKING- big issue, They have parking spots below (Council owned) for 15€ pn ($25AUD), you pay the hotel in cash (?) and it only gives you parking until 9am the following morning, NOT reserved so DO NOT pay for your entire stay. They have another parking spot (which states onsite and we thought was some kind of valet at booking upon rereading it does state self park) at 20€ pn but it is located 300m away. Bus from Amalfi is available however there is a fair walk from the stop to the hotel. CAB/Hire Car…50€ each way!!! Absolute Ror

We stayed only one night, lovely view and friendly helpful service. Overall great value, tasty cappuccino and simple breakfast. Hopped in the hot tub at night. I’d recommend arriving before nightfall ( uphill narrow roads ) also there was many stairs so I’d recommend something more accessible if you’re not mobile but was not an issue for us at all.

Vista incantevole personale gentilissimo e disponibile nell'accogliere tutte le nostre richieste. Camere ampie con tutti i comfort e pulizia giornaliera. Colazione abbondante italiana e internazionale su terrazzino curato e ombreggiato con vista mare /montagna . Sicuramente ci ritorneremo .

뷰가 정말 멋지고 좋았습니다. 객실이 깨끗하고 최근 리모델링(또는 신식)된것으로 보였습니다. TV도 최신형으로 넷플릭스도 볼수 있습니다. 교통은 조금 신경쓸필요가 있는데 아말피 해안에서 버스를 타고 Fontone에서 내리거나 택시를 이용해서 오셔야합니다. 직원분들은 정말 친절하여 오래 기억에 남을거 같습니다

This hotel was well appointed with amenities, and absolutely gorgeous. Views were stunning! The restaurant affiliated with the hotel was fantastic. Every staff member was incredibly hospitable and so kind and helpful. Lovely people! There are many stairs to get to the hotel and back to the street, as it is literally built into the mountains. Worth the walk for sure, but can be challenging for those with physical difficulty walking or climbing stairs. Definitely beautiful and serene. Nice sized balconies too for enjoying that view. The breakfast provided was typical Italian breakfast food - coffee, pastries/breads, cheeses, sliced meat, yoghurt, fruit. They also provided cereals, milk, and juice. Taxis are more expensive since Pontone (the city there) is remote. Buses come by fairly regularly, and the stop is about 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. There are stairs down the mountain to Amalfi too - about a 40 minute walk down. Google maps had the correct walking directions. Not a lot of options for dining in Pontone, as it’s a small town, but the two we tried were both excellent - Ristorante San Giovanni (past the click tower and to the right, very close!) and the restaurant on the premises (I think it was called Ristorante Antico Borgia.) Pictures show view from balcony and stairs (only a fraction of them) to Amalfi.

Os quartos são grandes e têm boa aparência. O café da manhã é mediano. A localização não é boa, fica a 20 minutos de carro de distância de Amalfi morro acima. Para ir a Amalfi de carro você pagará o estacionamento no hotel (20 euros por dia) e em Amalfi (6 euros por hora). Dizem que é possível ir pelas escadas, mas só se você for escalador profissional, não arrisquei. Wi-Fi péssimo, prepare-se para ficar sem internet. Um dos quartos entrava muita luz durante à noite porque não tem cortina na porta de vidro e tem luzes acesas do lado de fora durante toda a noite. Pedimos para separarem as camas e não fomos atendidos.

Excellent stay at this hotel. One of the best hotels I stayed in my Italy trip. Rooms are completely renovated and looks great, just as the pictures. View to the amalfi coast is absolutely stunning. The hotel staff is very helpful, especially Francesco was a great help, understanding and very pleasant to talk to. The only thing to remember, carry light bags as this place is quite a walk from where the buses drop you off. Since we were a big group, and had a lot of luggage, the hotel staff was very helpful with that. Breakfast didn’t have a lot of option, but still they got fresh bread everyday and the almond cake was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The Palazzo is beautifully nestled into the historic core of the Pontone village, away from the buzz in Amalfi. Planting beds with lavender and herbs add to a wonderful climate on the terrace with a peaceful view over the bay. We were warned by other reviews of the few steps from the parking to the hotel itself, otherwise there were no detriments to our stay.
