Trip started with Kuya Darwin, one of their very friendly and competent drivers. Super near and accessible to nearby tours that you can book at the front desk. Our room was quite modern with a spacious and comfortable bed, with just the right amount of pillows! Food and drinks were a highlight being very affordable with great serving sizes! Overall great stay with all the amenities you need.
This is a very pretty hotel and the staff were all very helpful and accommodating. Our room was large and the AC was great. The pool was very nice. It was a relaxing stay and very close in to Puerto Princesa.
This is a bit of a lengthy review and sadly not a good one. We have traveled to many countries and stayed at many 5 star resorts and this resort is labeled as a 5 star and it should be at most a 2. We flew into Puerto Princessa and the resort arranged a driver to pick us up which he did. The driver drove like and absolute mad man, in the pouring rain doing 120 with bald tires and next to zero communication with us. He stopped to smoke and left us just sitting there for 20-30 minutes wondering what was going on. I personally love sports cars and going to race tracks so going fast is a normal thing, but when I say that his driving was so nerve racking we both actually said a prayer to make it to the resort safely. It was an extremely nerve racking 5 hour drive that the resort set up. We arrive at the hotel which at first is quite cute until we noticed that villa was not clean at all , there were bugs all over, the ac was not cold at all and the refrigerator was barely below room temperature. Fast forward to the next day, we go on a tour in the city island hopping and get back to find out our shower will not drain. So they come and work on our shower for 4 hours and say that it is fixed. As soon as we go in to take a shower whatever they put down the drain stench is so strong and burned our eyes so bad we couldnt be in the bathroom. So we call again and we are sweaty and have not showered and are laying there at night in bed watching a movie and then they come to tell us they are moving us to a different villa. We paid for an ocean view villa and got a tree view. They do have 2 restaurants and they both are nice and Henris is a super cool little spot. The food offered isnt great, but the people there are very responsive and very polite. The last thing that really bothered us was when we paid them to bring us to town and pick us up for our tour the drop off was fine and as we were waiting for pick up after an 8 hour tour on the ocean all day we went right next to where they dropped us off at in the morning for pick up and messaged them. They stated that the driver is leaving. Its about a 10-15 minute drive from the resort to town. After waiting for about 45 minutes to an hour they messaged me and told me they cant pick us up where we were and to walk 1/2 a mile away to meet. Now this pick up was right next to where they dropped us off so why couldn’t they pick us up? So we walk to where they told us and we still waited another 20-30 minutes. All around it was just not a good experience from the start, its definitely not a 5 star resort and when I asked to be compensated for the trouble and not getting the room I paid for they said no. If you are going to go to elnido DO NOT STAY HERE. If you read the reviews there is a 5 star that is another bad review so im not sure how its 5 stars , but do yourself a favor and stay in town. Ive attached screen shots of the conversations .
Its a wonderful and relaxing experience here at Canvas Boutique Hotel, Puerto Princesa Palawan , they have a great and relaxing ambiance, comfortable bedrooms, very accomodating staffs, super cool manager, and very kind and approachable HR Ms Angel Angelica Calvez Duran , ofcourse delicious foods, and very accessible location.. all at a very affordable price.. highly recommended for your staycation or even for just a dinner or chill at the bar with friends, families and loveones.. They also have a wide and clean pool area for those who just want to recharge, refresh, breathe, and enjoy swimming...
This hotels biggest plus is the location at the nicest sunset beach in El Nido and the beach is also great for swimming. The beach is popular the whole day and busy until the sun is down and then all the people has gone back to El Nido, so this place is quiet after dark. The rooms in the Hotel part are nice and big. The bungalows have lower standard. The food though is horrible. The breakfast is the worst ever. Everything you expect to be hot is cold and you can choose between Fride eggs, rice, dried fish, pancakes and fruit. Sometimes there are something in addition, but look out for ants on the dishes! The staff speak little English, except the front desk, and many of them are not very welcoming. Not like in the smaller family run cottages we were used to.
Place is very run down. Cabins are okay with a lot of wood bugs. Food is terrible and 50-70% higher $ than any restaurant in the Philipines. There are no skilled hospitality staff. All goes through “Sir Greg”. If he is not available, nothing gets done, including renting bikes or kayaks. We ended up going next door at Cashew Grove resort(which is way less expensive and the food is delicious). Don’t stay here!
Clean and nice. Very cozy specially at night. Staffs are very welcoming and professional. Highly recommended for travellers specially on budgeted travelers. They have back up generator for electricity outages and they have night shift security guard. Walking distance to restaurants and bars.
