艾爾薩克佩哈飯店(Elsa's Kopje)

This was our first site of a safari in Kenya and we couldn't have wished for a better start. The camp is steeped in the history of the Adamsons story of Elsa the lioness and sited on the hillside where the story unfolded. Each room is constructed using the contours of the hillside and ours had a spectacular view of the Meru. There are many steps to get to the restaurant and bar at the top of the hill where there is also an infinity swimming pool. The food served here is 5* gourmet, light, fresh and delicious,most of which is grown in their own vegetable and herb garden, described by the chef himself who comes and explains each plate as it is laid on the table. We were gifted by having the most wonderful guide, Joel, who took us on our safaris. His wealth of knowledge was astounding as he could spot and name every bird, animal and fauna that we saw.

Bellissimo lodge inserito nel parco nazionale, in posizione elevata e panoramica. Abbiamo trascorso lì due notti ma vale la pena di stare più a lungo. Tutto lo staff è stato veramente molto gentile e la SPA offre trattamenti specifici a seconda delle esigenze. Io ho richiesto un massaggio del corpo rilassante e ho avuto il miglior trattamento che avessi potuto desiderare. Cena al lume di candele e piscina panoramica. Un posto in cui tornare.

Gewoonweg fantastisch! Eén van de mooiste lodges waar we ooit geweest zijn. Wat een uitzicht! We werden heel warm ontvangen door de manager Grace. Wat een dame. Professioneel, maar toch heel vriendelijk en warm. De kamers zijn heel mooi, ruim en heel netjes. Jacline is een heel goede kok, we verbleven daar 8 nachten, en iedere dag werden we verrast met een heel lekker menu. Al het personeel is heel erg vriendelijk: Ann, die verantwoordelijk was voor onze kamer, Dominic en Lawrence voor de bediening, Sylvia en Patrick voor de verwelkoming iedere dag. We hebben woorden tekort om onze waardering en ons enthousiasme te uiten. Alhoewel we geen katachtigen gezien hebben (buiten een luipaard die juist de weg overstak) hebben we heel erg genoten van het mooie, mooie park. Kijk ook eens naar de mooie natuur, de prachtige bomen en duizend jarige baobabs... Vele kuddes olifanten, giraffes hebben we gezien, baboons, waterbokken, gazelles.... Dit park is een echte aanrader en de lodge zeker. Het was een verblijf om nooit te vergeten.

Unique property, unique rooms, just the perfect place. Elsas is a storied property nested on top of a hill which provides you with a panoramic view of the park. The accommodation is uniquely shaped with the rooms curved around stones, every room is different. Located inside the Meru National Park. With a wide variety of birds and other wild animals.

Benannt nach der zahmen Löwin Elsa (Buch von Joy Adamson: "Born Free" und Film danach), wurde die Lodge in den felsigen Hügel (Kopje) des Mughwango Hill gebaut. Alle Gebäude der sehr gepflegten Anlage sind reetgedeckt und unter weitestgehender Verwendung natürlicher Materialien in einzelne Felsformationen integriert. Die einzelnen Chalets für die Gäste haben jeweils eine Veranda und anstelle von Außenwänden wurde so weit wie möglich luftdurchlässiges Gewebe verwendet, so dass auch der verwöhnte Mitteleuropäer bei den hiesigen Temperaturen zwischen 30 und 40°C ohne Klimaanlage auskommt. Strom und Wärme für die Warmwasserbereitung werden ausschließlich durch Photovoltaik- oder Solarthermieanlagen erzeugt. Der Anspruch, so umweltbewusst wie möglich zu leben, setzt sich auch in der liebevollen Rücksichtnahme auf Flora und Fauna fort, die hier für den Gast erkennbar ist. Der Gast genießt die gediegene, penibel saubere Einrichtung aller Zimmer, den stets aufmerksamen und perfekten Service durch bestens geschultes Personal, sowie eine gut sortierte Bar und kulinarische Köstlichkeiten auf Sternekoch-Niveau. Unvergesslich war auch der Wäscheservice, der dafür sorgte, dass unsere bei den Pirschfahrten völlig verstaubte Kleidung schon nach wenigen Stunden gereinigt und wieder im Schrank lag. Wir reisen viel, haben aber noch nie einen so umfassenden, zuvorkommenden und stets freundlichen Service erlebt. Unser besonderer Dank gilt Herrn Mohammed Boru, dem Chef-Guide der Lodge, der uns bis zur letzten Stunde kurz vor unserer Abreise auf unvergessliche Pirschfahrten mitnahm, um uns so viele Tiere und unterschiedliche Landschaften seines geliebten Landes zu zeigen wie nur möglich. Alles in allem haben die General Managerin, Frau Grace Leonhard und ihr Team dafür gesorgt, dass dieser Aufenthalt ein Höhepunkt unserer Safari-Reise war. Die Lodge kann ohne Einschränkung empfohlen werden. All buildings of the very well-maintained complex are thatched and integrated into individual rock formations using natural materials to the greatest possible extent. The individual chalets for the guests each have a veranda and instead of external walls, air-permeable fabric has been used as far as possible, so that even the pampered Central European can manage without air-conditioning in the local temperatures of between 30 and 40°C. Electricity and heat for domestic hot water are generated exclusively by photovoltaic or solar thermal systems. The claim to live as environmentally conscious as possible is also continued in the loving respect for flora and fauna that is recognisable to the guest here. Das Zimmer (Familienzimmer) war sehr schön und wirklich groß. Leider hat das Personal die Hinterlassenschaften der diversen Tierchen, die den offenen Raum täglich besuchen, konsequent ignoriert. Störend Auch Dady die Camp Managerin auf eine Anfrage nach dem Aufenthalt (Objektiv vergessen) gar nicht reagiert befremdet Insgesamt ist die lodge sehr schön gelegen. Die Lobby fällt dagegen wenig beeindruckend aus Unser Guide war sehr gut und kompetent wenngleich das auffinden der Raubkatzen in der dichten Vegetation schwer ist

Best decision ever to celebrate my birthday here. From the day we checked in, the high standards were maintained by ALL staff. They are all so kind! The rooms are meticulously made to welcome you to a new world of luxury. We got spoilt by Chef Jackline and her team. The Spa is one experience not to miss out. Judy did a great aromatherapy massage! Special shout to Nicholas, Matthew, Solomon, Richard, William, Patrick. Grace the GM is extremely knowledgeable on not only Elsa's Kopje history but the entire park and its environs. We will definitely be back here!

Glad we chose here 4 a 3 nights as a couple. All works perfectly like clockwork! Team lead by GM Grace offer exceptional + personalized service. Reception, rooms, dinning, security. Our room faces the East with a breathtaking sunrise view!

This was our third visit back to Elsa’s and we were greeted at the air***** by our favourite bushman, Joel. We were so excited to back. Greeted at reception by Grace, Jane, Sylvia and the rest of the team and we settled in. Shadrack, our lovely room attendant showed us to our room, cottage number 5. The cottage was lovely, had everything you needed along with stunning views across Meru. The food at Elsa’s and other Elewana properties is always top notch. Flavourful and plentiful along with a great drinks selection. Our waiter Solomon, was charming and funny. When we asked if the genet cats still came in to the bar area he took us back to the kitchen to see them sitting on their rock eyeing up any potential dropped food. The pool area is beautiful, that pool is simply stunning. Really warm and a great way to cool off after a morning drive. You don’t necessarily go to Meru for the sightings but we’ve always been so lucky when we’ve been. We didn’t see so many lions as last time but were lucky to spend time with a lovely female on her morning walk, a leopard at night just walking along the road, rhinos, giraffes and so many elephants. The Ellie’s in Meru are always so interesting due to previous poaching back in the day they are still mistrustful of humans but they’re slowly learning that we aren’t there to hurt them and simply admire their beauty. We also saw lots of birds and my one of my husbands favourites, the e gerunuk. Every time we go back the landscape is so different, this time it was so green because of the recent rains. It’s such a beautiful park and so untouched, you often won’t see another vehicle and with Elsa’s being the only camp in the park, it feels very special. Thank you especially to Grace for always being so accommodating and friendly and to Joel for being funny, interesting and our friend. We will be back!
