岩石谷飯店(The Valley of Rocks Hotel)

The room needs a refresh but we had a gorgeous view. There were some strings on the carpet and some glitter which made me wonder how thoroughly they hoovered. The shower cubicle was really small and might not be practical for someone of a bigger size. There was clearly not enough staff but the ones present were still lovely despite the apparent rush. The breakfast was disappointing as a lot of the dishes were empty. The breakfast starts at 8am and by 8:20 there were no croissants or pain au chocolat left. I asked for some more and had to wait more than 30 minutes for them. They brought 6 mini croissants for a buffet....But the hotel is well situated, the bed is comfortable and for a one night stop it was fine.

The hotel looked amazing on the website, how disappointing when actually there. Room was dirty and dusty. There was someone else's rubbish in the bathroom bin,not pleasant. Tv remote didn't work. Shower curtain still had the last person's hair on it! Then the breakfast was something else! Go to reception to get a piece of paper stamped after you pay £10 each. Breakfast only served 8 till 9 , no plates, no cutlery, no bacon ! 10 people queuing for food. No milk for cereals, no hot water, staff running around trying to help where possible. Very disappointed, when leaving and checking out, two couples before me complained about there stay, one of the couples left a day early. Beautiful place, tired rooms and staff.

Hotel has parking for 5 cars only!Room disgusting, wouldn’t use the in bath shower because of its condition , no loo brush, no toilet roll holder, a toilet roll was being used to prop open a window! No signage back of door re fire escape and safety. The tv was so small and on a table so that in bed you couldn’t see half of it. We asked at the bar where they had a good coffee machine what time it closed, as we were meeting friends out for dinner, at 6-30. Was told 10-30pm. Got back to hotel 9-45pm, all closed and shutters down, asked at reception, told about kettle coffeee tea etc in room. Went to our hovel, no cups! No milk sachets, powdered or other! Only had 1 pillow on each bed, none anywhere in room. Back to receptionist, who was on his own, no housekeeping, no pillows, no cups as he couldn’t leave his station. We WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!

I had very little choice of alternatives to book for a Bank Holiday stay because if I did I would have walked out. The room did not match the booking photos and had no TV despite saying ALL rooms had one. Upon entering the there were no towels. Later in the evening I found the wall partition was so thin I could hear every word uttered by the neighbouring guests. I then also found the toilet seat was broken and in the morning found the shower bath mixer tap had a non functioning cold supply which meant the shower eventually became scalding hot to the point it couldn’t be used. UNACCEPTABLE. If the room was cleaned properly and IF management was in place these issues should have been identified & fixed before the room was made available for occupancy. As I knew the hotel was fully booked my expectations for any positive action from the staff was nil and nothing was done. Although the staff were friendly I would NEVER EVER stay in this hotel again due to the failure of management to monitor standards for the rooms they allow to be advertised.

This hotel is in dire need of inves**ent and the website interior photos are not representative of the hotel which in some corridors has peeling wallpaper, mouldy ceilings, bare plaster and feels tired and musty. The young staff are lovely and helpful but they can't make up for the hotel which needs tlc. I would have been bitterly disappointed to have booked this for my holiday but luckily was only passing though for one night. The management need to take stock and give direction to the staff who are just doing their best.

The receptionist Kate was helpful & tried her best to sort our complaints. The beds were comfortable. The lounges were attractive. BUT numerous faults in our supposedly superior room. A letter has been sent to head office, which if not acknowledged, our complaint will go public.

The hotel was run down which was a shame. The garden area and car park were a mess - full of rubbish and cigarette ends. The carpets need more than shake and vac. The young man on the desk was lovely in fairness.

Our room was not ready at the promised 3 pm. The elevator was broken. 4 flights of dirty stairs to a bed with springs popping up. Hot and cold water intermittent throughout a shower. Charged $25 for a one hour late checkout. I would never recommend this hotel.
