北枝出遊俱樂部(North Branch Outing Club)

The room i signed up for looked nice. I wasnt put into that room. I was put into a small, dirty, extremely outdated room that was infested with ladybugs. We asked to get the room that i felt i was paying for, and the manager obliged. Its NOT Grayling! Its advertised as Grayling, but its 30 miles away. On a very hairy little tiny dirt road for 9.5 miles. Advertising is horrible. Its not what its meant to be. With that said, Terri was wonderful and very nice. Breakfast was great. If youre a fisherman looking to wake up and walk down to the river....great place! If you want a luxurious, quiet getaway....this is NOT your place.

The views of the river, along with the history and nostalgia of the lodge create an exceptional experience. North Branch Outing Club setting is spectacular. Terry & staff made our stay extremely comfortable and provided incredible hospitality.

This place is a hidden gem. An historic trout club in a beautiful setting. Terry and her crew provide a delicious and hearty breakfast. And Richard who runs the fly fishing store is a wealth of knowledge.

If your looking for luxury, keep looking. That said, this place is amazing, it's like stepping back in time 100 years. It's right on a beautiful section of the river and you can literally take a few steps and be fishing the North Branch. Sitting on the screened in second floor porch and listening to the river at night is truly special, the same spot where auto barons, business tycoons and many other world famous folks of their day sat and sipped bourbon and listened to the river. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The owner Dave even gave my son and I a master class in fly casting on the house! this is likely because we were there at a slow time but still, so greatly appreciated. Breakfast was served every morning at 8AM sharp and was delicious. Aside from that your on your own for food but Lewsiton is a 10 minute drive and has some decent options. Again, If your looking for something with all the regular amenities of a modern day hotel this isn't it, if your looking for a truly unique experience in a beautiful northern Michigan setting, this is your place. We will be back.

We booked a weekend at NBOC for our family in July 2022. When we arrived, we were surprised and amazed at this gem! The building is authentic and true to its time with an astounding history. We loved the Inn, the staff, the breakfast, the property and the river. Words cannot do this place justice. The owner, David, is a very experienced and enthusiastic fly fishing guide who takes great pride in this property and the service his guests receive. If you book this gem and a fishing or hunting tour, you will be impressed with the entire experience!

Great place for a getaway. My wife and I went up for a weekend of Morel hunting and had a wonderful time. Special thanks to the morning staff who prepared a wonderful breakfast, and Hunter was a great host who went above and beyond o make our stay enjoyable. We were lucky to share the lodge with a group of disabled veterans who were there through Project healing waters that spent the week showing them how to make their own Bamboo fly fishing poles from scratch. It was great listening to their experiences and thank all of you for your service!

Cute hotel on the North Branch of the Au Sable River

My Son and I were here for a mom/son getaway and had the best time! The owners Shelby and Dave were so welcoming and enthusiastic, the room was comfortable and quirky. It was like stepping back in time. Breakfast was amazing (Great job Shelby and crew!). Coming downstairs to the dining room in the morning to the tables all set with glassware and china was so comforting and homey. If sleek and modern is what you're after, keep looking, if you want to build memories and enjoy the beauty of Michigan this is your place. We will definitely be back, I can't wait to see the future brings for this little gem!
