韋爾斯利騎士橋飯店-豪華精選(The Wellesley Knightsbridge, a Luxury Collection Hotel, London)

The Wellesley Knightsbidge in London has two faces; the genuinely friendly and helpful staff and the most inept and clumsy interior decorating ever encountered in a so-called five star (very expensive, £800 a night) luxury hotel. We were shown to our deluxe executive room # 505 which was so crammed with furnishings it was hard to even move around the bed. Shockingly, the bathroom's exterior wall was entirely clear glass that led to a tiny balcony! Thankfully there were drapes to allow bathroom privacy. We were shocked that, except for four small drawers in the nightstands there were no drawers to store things at all. The closet for hanging clothes was adequate, but still no drawers! We immediately said this was unacceptable, and after discussion with management, we accepted a "deal" on a small suite #501 for £200 (British Pounds) extra more per night. It had four adequate drawers and a tightly furnished living room which came with it. We should have merely moved to another hotel, but after weeks of travel in the fabulous UK, we were too tired. The king bed was quite comfortable although needlessly overloaded with bolsters, upholstered pillows (with no place to store them!), plus 4 nice regular pillows. But the area around the bed was only a bout 30 cm or about 12 inches. That meant at the foot of the bed only one person could access the closet or get by at a time. Had the hotel's interior designer not opted for very thick - about23 cm or 9 inch - deeply tufted head board, guests would have been a little less crammed. The room had a bit of a strange smell as maybe from a pet and the carpet and sofa were stained, not horribly but noticeably. The bathroom was nicely tiled with highly polished matched marble, so one had to be extra careful to avoid slipping. We found getting in and out of the bub too slippery - treacherous after one use. The bathroom amenities in pump dispensers barely emitted the products, but you could get enough out, if you were diligent. Unlike to many other reviewers who complain of the smoke, the all pervasive cigar smoke in the lobby and lower floors did not seep into our vents, but it is strange that the hotel has two cigar friendly lounges without emphasizing that on their website. The Wellesley Knightsbridge is proud of its name which is printed over and over on most everything, but you might want to stay elsewhere, perhaps one closer to variety of restaurants, pubs, etc.

Ordered a prawn salad and it gave off a bad smell which had nothing to do with the fish by the way. Sent it back to the kitchen. They insisted that it was fine and that they wouldn’t make a new one but were still going to charge me for it even though I didn’t touch or eat it. No empathy, resolution or understanding offered. The butler and housekeepers were lovely though.

Haven't bothered writing reviews lately but had to do one for here to reward the staff for their efforts which were appreciated - we were given a very warm welcome by the manager Juan who could not have done any more for us. The hotel looked lovely with its Christmas decorations up and it felt cosy and warm. We could see Hyde Park and Winter Wonderland opposite. Our room was a junior suite which was small but comfortable. Our butler very helpful brought tea facilities up and champagne glasses which we requested and extra water. I enjoyed the Asprey toiletries in my bath. We were offered the hotel car but it was not available when we went out but we were offered it again the next morning but could walk to the station which is very close by. It was a very pleasant surprise to come to such a nice hotel and it was the staff which made it so, breakfast was great we were served by two ladies who were excellent.

Words can’t describe how wonderful this hotel is. This was my second stay here and there is no other hotel I will stay at again in London. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel as though you are the only guest in the hotel. They are able to grant any request I have ever had and followed up to make sure it was up to my expectations. The rooms are extremely comfortable and elegantly decorated. The restaurant and roof service is top tier. The front desk staff, valet, bellmen, driver, waitstaff, hotel cleaners and concierge are all top notch. When I left the hotel, I was truly sad to have to say goodbye.

For someone visiting from the US from Florida, you would think they would do some due diligence of research on a photo before hanging communist Fidel Castro on their cigar lounge wall. Extremely distasteful. Shame on you! By far the poorest choice of pic’s to display of someone who didn’t allow the smallest of life pleasures to its citizens of Cuba.

We booked here last minute with points after a cancelled flight out of Heathrow. Even with a last minute point booking they were ready for us on arrival and welcomed us with open arms, smiles and the perfect amount of humor. We were given a very nice upgrade and Juan at the front desk could not have been more kind and helpful. He made us a dinner reservation within minutes and the house car even dropped us off. From the doormen to the front desk and butlers, everyone was so truly amazing we will certainly be back. The room was comfortable and impeccable - luxury meeting old world charm. The service was hospitable and not stuffy - flawless.

One of the best boutique hotels out there, impeccable service and very polite staff. Much has been made about the smell of cigar smoke in the lobby, but honestly it wasn’t as bad as I had expected. My room was extremely comfortable, excellent air conditioning and hot water is perfect. Bed is very comfortable and house keeping is always on call. Hard for me to pick on anything negative really. Much better service that you’d otherwise receive in big hotels. Well done Marriott & Wellesley.

Charming and welcoming boutique hotel close to London’s historic sites, South Kensington and Knightsbridge. Ceilings are a bit low, and the artwork is at times overwhelmed, but highly recommended for a short trip.
