斯圖加特琥珀飯店萊昂貝格(Plaza Inn Leonberg)

Was the Amber Hotel until August. Will be refurbished soon. Currently a little outdated but kept very clean with all the usual bathroom complementaries. Friendly helpful staff in all areas. Receptionists fluent in English. Bottle of water each day and silent fridge. Parking outside but there is a charge, and hotel is right on the edge of the central park Window rattled when on latch and building site over the road started at 7.30am so disturbed sleep but not the hotels fault. Breakfast €12 was a wide range of breads, cheese, cereals, etc with cooked eggs, bacon, hash browns. Note that few eateries are open on a Sunday so advise to have the hotel breakfast that morning as the cafes nearby on the main street that do open start after 10am and appear to be frequented only by middle aged men.

Formerly the Amber Hotel, this was taken over by Plaza Inn in August (2023). It is on the edge of the large city park which is well laid out with sculptures, gym equipment, playgrounds, paths and a fountain with stream and very near the Leo (shopping) Centre. My room was on the 6th floor, really clean, quiet and comfortable though a little tired. The bathroom had the usual complementaries. German hotels only provide a bottle of water in the room and not tea and coffee making facilities nor a fridge. You won't find many cafes open nearby on a Sunday, and those that do, open after 10am. So, I took the hotel breakfast at 12 Euros which was an eat-as-much-as-you-want buffet that included scrambled and boiled eggs, bacon and hash browns as well as a selection of cereals, breads, fruit, cheese and cold meats with tea and coffee from a machine. It was worth the money as it started early (6.30am) and I could sit there as long as I wanted. The staff were really friendly throughout the hotel and the Reception staff spoke fluent English. I was told that the hotel was being refurbished over winter and bedrooms would be updated. The only slight ****** was that the window, when open at a tilt, rattled in the wind and there were building works over the road which were out of the control of the hotel, but meant that the window had to be closed when I was in the room. I found this hotel good value for a couple of nights, but if the price is increased after the planned updating, it might be more viable to go to a local Gasthaus.

Soviel Alternativen hat man in LEO denn auch nicht. Das gerade umfirmierte Hotel ist nun doch schon in die Jahre gekommen. Selbst Businesszimmer und dessen Bad sind recht klein. Möblierung etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Matratze viel zu durchgelesen und weich. Immerhin sehr sauber, bis auf den schicken braun-ocker (?) farbenen Teppich, den ich nicht barfuß betreten wollte. Und es gibt sie noch: Zommerschlussel mit einem Nummernanhänger! Zu den Spitzenzeiten dauert es an den Aufzügen viel zu lange. Das Frühstück war weitgehend in Ordnung. Leider war die Präsentation im Regal doch etwas umständlich. Das Team war jederzeit freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ich hoffe der neue Betreiber modernisiert.

Das Einchecken war gut. Das Zimmer war sauber, ist aber sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Beim Frühstück war das Personal knapp, das Buffet teilweise schnell lehr und als es wieder aufgefüllt wurde, waren die meisten Gäste bereits wieder gegangen.

Das mit vier Sternen eingestufte Hotel in Leonberg hat aus meiner Sicht seine Auszeichnung verdient. Es ist eine Unterkunft, die man einige Tage lang getrost buchen kann. Die Zimmer sind zwar nicht besonders groß und nicht auf dem allerneuesten Stand, aber ordentlich ausgestattet. Wer will, kann hoch hinaus in diesem Hochhaus. Wer das nicht will, kann entsprechende Wünsche äußern, die auch möglichst erfüllt werden und ein niedriges Stockwerk für sein Zimmer beziehen. Wer ein Zimmer mit Fenster in Richtung Park gebucht hat, darf sich über eine ruhige Nacht freuen. Der Service ist angenehm und freundlich. Eine Tiefgarage steht zur Verfügung. Wenn wir mal wieder in Leonberg sind, steigen wir wieder gern im Amber-Hotel ab.
