The neighborhood is called Ausable Acres where each home is separated from its neighbors by trees thereby offering considerable privacy. The Acres has a lake, miles of trails for hiking or cross-country skiing and a picnic pavilion area. For fisherpersons, there is access to the Ausable river less than two miles away. Within three miles is a Top’s Supermarket, Stewart’s Gas and Convenience store, movie theatre, pizzeria and liquor store.The interior of the cabin is constructed with tongue and groove knotty pine throughout. The bedroom has a new queen size log bed. The bathroom is newly remodeled. There is a sitting area with a wood stove, kitchen, dining area, a desk with ample room for writing in your journal or laptop and an area with comfy chairs for just relaxing. The home has a three-zone electric heating system, so a wood fire is optional. There are two USB charging stations and high-speed internet. The kitchen has an electric cooktop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, dishes and lots of cookware that allow our guests to prepare a home cooked meal or breakfast. In warmer months enjoy relaxing on the front porch or cooking on the gas grill in the side yard which also has a picnic table. Our cabin is designed for one or two guests. Absolutely no pets are allowed. The loft is not accessible. It is a ranch-style home with a cathedral-ceiling great room that comprises a full kitchen and living area. A master bedroom (queen bed) plus two full bathrooms complete the ground level dwelling. There is a down-stairs living area that is comprised of a large bed-room that hosts a queen size bed, a futon (pull out full size bed) and an amish made rocker. Stairs leading to the downstairs bed-room/living area are complete with log rails & log gate for safety. Mountain Home has a covered porch with comfortable Adirondack Chairs plus an open deck to relax outdoors. There is an outdoor grill (bring your own charcoal) and fire pit (please keep fires small and contained). An outdoor hose is available. Soft sandy ground easily tracks through the home so please, we ask that you remove your shoes upon entering. Water is safe to drink. Septic system on property can handle toilet paper only. The Mountain Home is cleaned with all natural cleaners by (PUR Evergreen) products, Milliken, Co. Ausable Acres is a quiet neighborhood. Evening quiet hours are in place from 10pm to 7am. . As such, we have the expectation that our guests will honor the peace & quiet of the surrounding area. The River House is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom chalet that sleeps 8, tucked away in the Ausable Acres in Jay, NY, right on the West Branch Ausable River. This cozy home is on a private, secluded lot, yet close to many of the Adirondack area attractions making it an ideal location to make your home base during your winter getaway in the Adirondacks.The Ausable Acres community is located in Jay, NY and is not far from several popular local destinations. Whiteface Mountain, the “greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies” is a short drive away. Lake Placid isn’t much farther and has great shopping and dining in addition to all of the Olympic history from hosting twice, including in 1980 for the Miracle on Ice victory. The property is also centrally located between Santa’s Workshop, the Covered Bridge in Jay, High Falls Gorge, Ausable Chasm & Mt. Von Hoevenberg.The main floor consists of a well-stocked kitchen (pots, pans, silverware, cooking utensils, drinking glasses, plates, mugs, wine glasses, bakeware, etc.) with a dishwasher and a brand new fridge, an open living room with a 70-inch 4K TV (please note the wood stove isn't functioning), a sunroom with a small dinette as well as some rocking chairs and a small sofa, a king bedroom with a TV and a full bathroom. The 2nd floor was completely remodeled this year with brand new flooring in both bedrooms (queen bed with a TV in the first and a queen over queen bunk in the second) along with a fully remodeled bathroom with a massive walk-in shower and jack & jill sinks. Please note, the wood burning stove cannot be operated as multiple chimney sweeps indicated it would be a fire hazard to use until considerable repairs are made. As we are a member of the Ausable Acres Property Owner's Association, you will have access to cross-country skiing/snowshoeing trails right within the neighborhood. Jay covered bridge and swim holes are within walking distance.OUR HOME: Our renovated grandfather's home is located on 18 acres on a peaceful back road in Jay, NY. Relax on the deck overlooking the 180 degree views of the Adirondack High Peaks. Walk our trails in the woods behind our house or play in the yard (i.e., baseball and frisbee or sledding down the hill in the winter). Roast marshmallows over the fire in our fire pit in the woods (strict fire safety rules apply & no fires in drought seasons). I can wave that fee if you are bringing all your own linens, as that is a lot less time for my cleaning lady. But please make sure to leave the house in good-clean condition, as that cleaning fee goes towards her cleaning time too.-Sorry for the VRBO service fee, as I cannot remove that.-If you are thinking about bringing a dog, then send me an inquiry and talk with me first. We have to be very careful with allowing dogs to help keep our home low allergen and low scent. (We like to use a scent-free and environmental products to clean.)There is a $100 pet fee if your pet is allowed to come for the extra deep cleaning that the cleaning lady will have to do. -Damage Protection:Homeaway offers a great low cost property damage protection. You pay only $59 dollars for $1500 worth of protection.I also like to give discounts on additional nights added to a rental last minute (like when you realize you just can't leave).
