Hope & Glory, hand’s down, is one of the most hospitable and downright precious inns I have ever visited. And I say “precious” in the grandest sense of the word - hospitality, attention to detail, scrumptious breakfast delivered by the proprietor himself, and happy beautiful people whose only concern it seems is to make your stay the best that it can be. The philosophical signs around the property such as “Say yes to something you normally say no to” are inspiring. And yes I did, taking a bath under the stars in a private outdoor cast iron claw foot tub! It was gloriously relaxing and something I will never forget! Thank you Dudley, Peggy, Heather and Mesaret for your kindness and hospitality! You could not have done better.

My wife and I were treated like a King and Queen from the time we began our weekend celebration to the last moment we left Hope and Glory. We were celebrating our Anniversary and my wife’s Birthday. We had a Rustic cottage with a Qween size bed, TV, couch and wonderful shower in the bathroom. The living accommodations were excellent but the food and room service for breakfast was fantastic. Having spent time and dining at The Inn at Little Washington, I never imagined having another getaway with 5 Star dining like they had to be topped but our food prepared by Chef Meseret certainly equaled and surpassed that experience during our stay at Hope and Glory. Her love and kindness could be tasted in her food preparation and also her attention to every little detail serving us. We were treated to a gourmet dinner and breakfast each morning in front of a glowing fire in the fireplace. Our stay was quiet and intimate with each other as well as Chef Meseret and the hostess that made our Romantic getaway so special. A true gem in Irvington, Va.

Our last dining experience of 2023 was the best of the year!! We invited friends to join us at the Colonnade at the Hope and Glory! As always, it was superb and exceeded all expectations. The evening started with a warmest of welcomes from Maîtresse d Heather, who greeted us like family. Indeed, that is what the entire experience is: going to dinner at a family member's home. The difference is that the chef just happens to be Michelin quality! Any dish prepared by Chef Meseret is perfection. Our dinner yet again demonstrated her artistry and sublime talent: shrimp with fresh pesto and asiago; warm vichyssoise; succulent rock fish with a lemon butter; a delicate chateaubriand; and cheesecake for dessert! When she came to say hello to us, her smile let us know that we, like all her guests, are part of her family! Thank you, Mesert and Heather, for a wonderful evening!

We spent the 4th of July in the vibrant little town of Irvington, VA at the incomparably comfortable Hope & Glory Inn. Peggy and Dudley Patteson truly know how to make guests feel welcome in their lovingly restored, schoolhouse-turned-into charming inn. The decor is cottage chic, with eclectic and interesting furnishings, art and accessories. Breakfasts are served in room and are so tasty and creative! Fun place to visit at any time!

We've had the privilege of traveling to some lovely resorts and beautiful cities but our visits to The Hope & Glory remain highlights. This isn't a typical B&B; Peggy and Dudley Patteson, Chef Meseret and the staff are the absolute best at making you feel welcome, comfortable, and being very well fed! Come here once and every return trip will be like visiting dear friends.

When you step into Hope and Glory Inn, you immediately feel like family (in a good way!). Peggy and Dudley were the perfect hosts (as well as their staff). The breakfasts were delicious and delivered to our cottage which was cute and charming. They took the time to give us a tour of the property and a selection of activity ideas in the area. The Dog and Oyster was a unique and special surprise in the front of the Inn. Wine was refreshing and the oysters delicious. We can hardly wait to return the next time we visit the Northern Neck.

The Hope and Glory Inn is a great place to stay! The staff are friendly and always there to help. We went to celebrate our 30 wedding anniversary. It was the perfect place to stay. We especially enjoyed the room service for breakfast, the Micro Winery on the premises, and the delicious dinner we ate there!

the B&B hosts are extremely personable. They gave some wonderful recommendations for sightseeing in the area. The rooms were comfortable; the bathroom very clean with ample towels; and, the balcony was a real bonus (even in the rain since it was covered). The breakfast was delicious! It is boxed and brought to your room. We ate on the balcony and watched the goings on of the tiny town while eating. Our dinner at the Collonade could have been the best meal we've ever eaten! 5 Stars! I think next time we'd like to stay in one of the private cottages. We also would like to go to the in house vinery and oyster bar!

…it all started with a chance meeting at the Dog & Oyster winery. The wonderful sweet and gracious owner invited us to stay at the Inn on our next visit to Irvington. Fast forward 5 years later; our second stay at the same cottage (there are several to choose from) was perfect. The cottages are so cute and offer extremely comfortable beds with lush linens, comforters, bath towels, and pillows! Breakfast is brought to your room, which is delicious. 🥰 We cannot say enough about the hospitality, that Peggy and Dudley so graciously offer time and time again. We look forward to spending more time there ❤️ Thank you to both of them as well as their staff for all of the hard work and dedication that goes into making the Hope & Glory Inn a wonderful experience 🩷
