Furnished with a mixture of some contemporary and many antique pieces that make it feel cozy and a step back in time. The views from almost every window are breathtaking - the wide Connecticut River to the front, and old-growth trees and limestone walls stretching up in the back to the cliffs above. Dishes, cookware, and silver are a combination of new and antique, with a blender, refrigerator in the eat-in kitchen, and a full size washer and dryer on the ground floor.The home is located in the historic district of East Haddam, CT, enabling guests to enjoy the serenity of the woods and the river while also being able to walk to the village of East Haddam. Along the way, you will pass gorgeous colonial-era homes, the local library, a cemetery established in the early 1700s, the Nathan Hale Schoolhouse, and amenities like Common Ground cafe, the Sweet Shop, the Gelston House restaurant, and the Goodspeed Opera House. A quick trip down Rt 9 brings you to the villages of Essex and Chester, which are known for their boutiques, restaurants, antique shops, and other amenities. Along with boating and hiking (and cross-country skiing in winter), the house provides easy access to swimming at the Moodus reservoir and Cedar Lake, and visits to Gillette Castle.
