海豚灣飯店(Dolphin Bay Hotel)

1ベッドルームに宿泊しました。 ダウンタウンからは離れており、歩いて行くには遠いかなといった距離。 でも中は広くて清潔！4人で泊まりましたが、ゆったり過ごせました。 写真で見ると、シャワールームが狭そうに見えましたが、変わった形のせいで子供と二人ゆっくり洗えました。また、写真で見るより清潔でした。シャワーも普通の強さ。 エアコンはないものの、窓を開けると涼しく、天井ファンに扇風機までありました。 寝る時は流石に戸締りして寝ました。 天井ファンを回しながら寝ると、真上にあったため、3段階の一番弱くしても、直接顔に風が当たるため、そこだけがマイナス点でした。 朝ごはんも、バナナとバナナブレットが無くなる度に補充されていましたが、楽しみにしていたパパイヤはカゴがあったのみでモノは無かったです。 飲み物はコーヒー、紅茶、牛乳、ホットチョコレートと充実していました。 60代の両親も満足のお宿でした！

This review is going to come across as being negative about this hotel, but that's not its intent. It's really just meant to manage expectations. The staff is friendly and attentive. The room and grounds are very clean. If that's all you need from a hotel, then this is the place for you. However, this is an old hotel and lacks most of the amenities that one might expect. There is no air conditioning in the rooms (or anywhere), so you have to keep the windows wide open and the fan cranked up all of the way to cool the room off at night. This means that you need to be able to sleep through the local wildlife noises. Morning breakfast consists of a pot of coffee, some fruit, and some banana bread (which is tasty) near the front desk. The room doors lock/unlock with an actual key and are located on the exterior of the building. The hotel is located in a less-than-stellar-looking area of town. There are condemned houses with overgrown yards across the street and an assortment of abandoned cars around the neighborhood. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the downtown area of Hilo to find anything to do or eat, but most of the nicer (and more tourist-friendly) places are a bit farther. Again, this is not a horrible place to stay, but it lacks many of the comfort/safety/convenience aspects that one might expect.

I spent many days walking in the botantical gardens behind the B&B. The Staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and had knowledge of many areas of interest around Hilo and Volcano. We really enjoyed the hotel amenities, opie the cat, and the walking distance to dinning and shopping. We are coming again next year.

Hotel room was clean but really cheap looking. The kitchen amenities were old and the room was dark, cinder blocked and showed years of wear and tear. Peeling cabinetry, bathroom grout was discolored and I would not want to ever go into that tub. Luckily we stayed just one night. On the bright side the hotel staff were very nice and helpful. But they left at 7 pm on a Saturday night with only off site back up. Also, breakfast included was only coffee tea and banana bread. Yummy but meager.

The staff was WONDERFUL! Extremely helpful with information at check in and help with suggestions on what to do in the area as well as giving great directions. We stayed one night after visiting Volcano Nation park and Hilo. The hotel met our needs perfectly. The added fresh coffee and Banana bread was a wonderful start to our day.

Cute little hotel with a beautiful garden. Homemade banana bread and fresh papayas every morning. Owners and workers are very friendly. Room was very clean well kept and perfect for what we wanted. Would stay here again.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The host John knows the island so well and was so helpful for sightseeing. The staff were always friendly and the place was well maintained, even if older. The kitchen was well set up. Beautiful gardens with off street parking. Nice quiet street with easy access and within walking distance to the shops and restaurants. I would stay there again.

It was a little home away from home. Every detail was present. Beautiful big garden area, barbecue pits, front porch, fresh banana bread and papayas off the tree every morning. At sunrise you could hear a symphony of birds chirping. The kitchen well equipped and ample parking.
