"We have been here many times. Mostly for the walks and the spa. The grounds are really lovely and there are walks suitable for different abilities. The pool and spa are very nice. Very clean and a good, if bot very big, jacuzzi and lovely steam room and sauna. Some of the corridors are looking a bit tired and need redecorating, but the bar and lounge arias are very sumptuous. We will definately visit again as its a very affordable overnight break"

"A truly unique stay in a genuine medieval castle, and I chose the Josephine Suite, one of only a few rooms available. I especially loved the medieval windows in the room—perfect for taking photos. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, and overall, the value for money was good. The nights were very quiet with almost no light pollution, allowing for beautiful stargazing. The castle tour is highly recommended; a dedicated staff member will guide you through the entire castle and up to the top, offering stunning views. There are even peacocks in the courtyard! If you're looking for a truly unique castle stay, this is highly recommended."

"I had a great stay here recently. I spent 2 nights and was well taken care of. It’s a short walk into Bellingham where you can find cafes, pubs and groceries. It is also just off the Pennine Way. I stayed in the guest room building, which has a handy, communal kitchen. There are also self catering lodges. Hazel and Katie did a lovely job of looking after the rooms. This place is in dark sky country so there are spectacular views at night. I would be very happy to come back here!"

"Lovely pub style hotel in glorious surroundings. Food is excellent. The rooms are rather small but functional. By the way, if both of you are over 80 kgs, I suggest two beds. As this is Northumberland, you will find the drying room a great find. The brewery bar is really good. Enjoy the Hadrian Wall close by."

"Just an overnight stay on our way to Scotland but it was everything we wanted and more. Fantastic recommendation from Elizabeth for Sunday roast at The Rose and Crown. We had room 1 overlooking the beautiful garden. Lovely large room with bath and shower. Breakfast was lovely, all fresh cooked by Elizabeth, and piping hot. Great coffee too! Lots of extra thoughtful touches like a lounge area, crockery and glasses available to use and a microwave if we'd needed it. Will definitely stay again in we're back in this area. Thank you!"
