Hyatt House Rochester/Mayo Clinic

The location wasn't where I wanted to be in-regards to the Mayo clinic. The room had a strong air freshener smell that gave me a headache. The breakfast buffet was a disappointment-not a lot of options, although we did eat towards closing. No muffins or waffles were available. Pool and hot tub area were nice and clean. The workout area had a lot of different options and was a good size. Overall our room was clean.

The staff was amazing - as nice and helpful as possible. The gentleman who was at the breakfast area cleaning tables was more than nice, he was truly taking care of the guests, over and above in every way. Perfect location for those going to the Mayo Clinic. Only downside was that the outlets seems to be worn out in some places, making charging devices difficult. (I had to hold the plug in to dry my hair too!) Liked it enough to rebook for a visit next month

I was able to check in early. The girl at the front was very helpful with directions and suggestions for places to eat. There were no coffee cups In the room. The lady who was cleaning my floor stopped what she was doing and went to get me a mug. I didn’t have any bath towels in my room and it took two calls to the front desk to get them. The room wasn’t given the express cleaning advertised. I left dirty towels on the floor and they were still on the floor when I returned to my room several hours later. The trash cans weren’t emptied. I had to use a paper bag for trash because the two cans were overflowing.

Great hotel stay--only annoying thing was lack of housekeeping (only happens every 4 days). We were able to get plenty of towels from front desk, but the trash filled up fast (small capacity for bathroom and room trashcan).

Free bottled water was a huge plus!! Breakfast was great, soup in the evening was a bonus. Staff from front desk, kitchen and housekeeping were so kind and accommodating. Definitely will be staying here again.

The hotel staff were wonderful. The breakfast is very nice to have. The rooms were clean and well-kept. My only complaint was that the EV chargers did not work. I even called ahead to ensure the hotel had working EV chargers.

The staff was outstanding, any questions we had they answered on the spot. Any issues that may have come up, were handled immediately. The only issue I could think of , would be a hotel guide booklet in the room, so you could look up amenities and rules without bothering the staff. We would definitely stay there again. There was no soap in our bathroom to wash our hands or take a shower. I went to the desk (person was eating at the desk!!) and they wrote it down, they never brought us a little bar of soap!!! So annoying. You have to use a key card to move up or down in the elevator, that is super inconvenient. There was zero maid service so our room was not kept up. They had a baseball team staying there and those boys were super wild in the small pool area and screaming so loud we had to leave, my ears were bleeding. Bad acoustics, they needed to open a window. No staff to quiet them down. They ran out of coffee in the morning with the breakfast. No pancakes or waffles at the breakfast for kids. Kids need pancakes. For $225 a night, this was really disappointing.

Breakfast was great. The hotel seems understaffed with respect to cleaning rooms, we had to ask for cleaning on several days of the 8 days stay. However the cleaning staff and lobby and kitchen and bar staff were very nice, polite and working hard. One issue I suspect others have mentioned is that there are active railroad tracks in front of and behind the hotel, probably within a thousand feet, and as this is downtown, the trains have to blow their horns loudly to warn drivers, which happens also in the middle of the night - including between midnight and 5 AM, awaking everyone from sleep I am sure. As a Mayo patient trying to recover from a surgical procedure, that was not so great and probably we would not choose to stay here again if there are other options, for that reason.
