The motel has great history which is neat to walk through but the location is full of homeless. We were even woken up by a poor homeless man screaming and crying in the street. Very heartbreaking. Staff made us feel like we were bothering them and the bathroom is beyond small….teeny tiny.
Great hotel with history. We liked the atmosphere.

This is a unique experience. Built in 1922, this historic inn has hosted three U.S. presidents and many actors, sports stars, and politicians. Their pictures are on the walls. The original opening of this inn corresponds with the completion of the highway which allowed access to this redwood studded part of California. There are three old time telephone booths in the huge lobby and many displays of days gone by. Completely renovated, the bed is comfortable, the television large, and breakfast free, even if your booking says that you must pay extra. TIP: If you come in winter, set your room temperature to 75 degrees (70 degrees does not really reach 70 degrees).
