On 10/08/2023, we stayed in Room 422 of the La Quinta Inn in Plattsburgh, NY. Check-in was approximately 07:30 pm. The check-in was quick and we proceeded to Room 422. I immediately discovered the vanity sink stopper mechanism was broken preventing the sink from draining. Okay, so I lifted the stopper manually and discovered that the stopper itself had broken in half. Okay, so I removed the stopper entirely only to discover the sink would not drain at all and, worse, fecal-like matter backed up into the sink. The sink was unusable. I returned to the front desk to report the problem at approximately 07:45 pm. The person was polite but told me the manager as well as the maintenance person had gone home and nothing could be done that night. I insisted that the manager be called to address the problem. According the person who called, the manager acknowledged that housekeeping had reported the problem earlier but she had forgotten to inform the maintenance person. Again I was told nothing could be done until the following morning. Really? This was a serious problem affecting personal hygiene that the manager failed to address. Frankly, I think she should be fired for leaving customers in such a predicament. At a minimum, the manager could have offered 1) a plunger to unstop the drain and/or 2) a can of Drano to unstop the drain and/or 3) a bottle of water so we could at least brush our teeth. Ironically, the password for this hotel was “hereforyou”. Here for you?
