Really great hotel; nice rooms, bedding, shower. Seemed like it was brand new but I didn’t ask. We had a king bed with this mini couch that we discovered pulled out to a bed. We walked to the Peace bridge which was nice. Stephen Avenue was about 1/2 mile walk and a ton of cool restaurants and pubs are there. This hotel has a cool rooftop and two restaurants but we didn’t get a chance to go. People seemed to like them.
Our flight departing Calgary was cancelled for 24 hours so we were put up in this hotel by the airline. The staff was pleasant and accommodating, special shout out to Stacey in the lounge who worked so hard to make sure everyone whose flight was cancelled was fed and full of drinks! Also special shout out to the chef that night, he was alone and still managed to get all the delicious food out in a timely manner! These two really stepped up and made our rather gloomy stay much more enjoyable! The rooms were clean and comfortable, big soft pillows on the beds and you could control your own room temperature. The front desk staff also accommodated a late check out for us as we had so much time to waste the next day. Thank you to the staff, you’ve really worked hard to turn our trip around!
First of all location is decent, it is near Sunridge mall, with restaurants close by. Stayed here for 2 nights. First impression is everything. First thing we noticed was building didn’t look like it’s in good shape, and dented trash can in the lobby. Behind the front desk were un friendly staffs during the entire stay. In fact their impression did not even look like they were staffs. They would tell you the bare minimum at check in. At check out a robot could of done a better job. 2nd day at 9am we asked for more towels, as they only provided towels for 2, even though we had 4 guests. Without asking for our room number was told housekeeping would make their rounds. However we received an email prior to check in there’s no daily housekeeping. If we require towels to request by 10am the day of. Which we did, but was told we are incorrect. So who’s telling the truth? Or again is front desk staff being lazy? Also don’t bother with the Marriott app, the staffs at this place does not check the messages. They do have a fitness centre, pool, whirlpool on site. We did see several dead bugs in the pool, so pretend it’s an “outdoor” pool. Only had 1 pool towel left for the 4 of us, again called front desk, apparently the “nice” gentleman says its not their responsibility to stock pool towels. What is this hotel and their towels? Another nice amenities is they do have, coin operated washer/dryer located in the parkade level. I’m glad we didn’t have to use it. Imagine asking the front desk for change? They will probably blame their guests for not carrying change in a society where’s it’s mostly cashless. The room is clean. They did place a bottle of water in the room which is a nice touch by the hotel. House Keeping staffs were very friendly. Good job housekeeping crew! However I can’t tell if the room we were in are renovated or not. Some of the furniture looks updated but some weren’t, the mattress was uncomfortable. The bathroom is clean, sink is updated, however the Bath tub and towel looks old. The black out blinds are good. Bottomline housekeeping did a wonderful job, however designer did a horrible job. One elevator was not working during our entire stay, so only one elevator to serve the entire hotel. Again NEVER mentioned at time of check in. If we didn’t have toddlers and stayed on the 6th floor, would of been faster to take the stairs. Breakfast was included in our rate, for guests who’s rate does not include breakfast, It does cost $15.99 per person Buffet style. I wouldn’t recommend paying for it, as the spread was horrible. Also day of check out, we saw dead bugs on the fruit tray. Upon brining it to their attention they brushed it off at first, eventually replace it with a new plate.but bad for guests who’s looking for that extra protein. Parking is free which is super nice, you can park above or underground which is nice for hot or super cold days. However the parkade is like a junk storage yard when you enter. But at lea
MMichael SFront desk staff were impolite and showed little to no customer service orientation. Told me that the room that I reserved and paid for was not available. Insisted that they had the right to downgrade my room and still charge me the same rate. When I then requested to cancel the room and go somewhere else they said they would still charge me. Also said there were no rooms available for check-in and then people who arrived after me were given keys to the exact same room type. Bad experience all around. There is something wrong at this hotel. I would stay away.
Very good breakfast meal served for our team. They were able to have it ready for 6:30 AM when we had an early game. The hotel was great about giving us a late check out when we had a late game on the day of our departure.
DDebraDianeThe checkin went very smoothly and my room was clean and spacious. It was very convenient to the Calgary Airport. Although it was connected I only found the bridge way that lead to the parking garage and then found entrance to hotel. When you walk out the hotel front door you can see the entrance to the airport. You can reach the entrance in less than a minute. I will definitely stay again when in Calgary. I especially love the added security of needed my room keycard to operate the elevators. There is a phone near the elevator should you lock yourself out.
