My son & I had booked the Gold Palais Hotel in Prenzlauer Berg as our base for a 4 night stay culminating in an evening in the Olympiastadium to enjoy a Coldplay concert. We arrived late one Saturday afternoon in early July and parked for a short spell just across the road to the hotel. Check in was easy and managed by two friendly receptionists, a young man from Nepal and a nice young lady from Poland. Both spoke English. They explained the set up including what to do if we came back after 23:00 and the reception was no longer manned. This included having a key to open the side door and an emergency number... just in case. And they offered us the one remaining car park space in the underground parking area, costing 18,00 per 24 hours. Super. We left our car down there and didn't see it again for 4 days which was great. We had a room on the 2nd floor. The first thing we had to do was to go down to reception and ask them to separate the beds converting them from one double to two singles. No problem. The room itself overlooked the busy, and noisy street. We left the window open overnight which, on hindsight wasn't so clever owing to the noise. We should simply have used the air conditioning. Apart from the relatively comfortable beds, the room was very clean and modern. We had a modern desk, chair and large wardrobe with a safe. We didn't make much use of the largish flat screen TV but were happy that there was free WiFi and enough sockets for all our electronic equipment. There was a kettle and enough coffee and tea to keep us happy. I missed a fridge, but OK... The separate bathroom was also ultra clean and modern. I liked the large, walk in shower with two shower heads, including the rainforest one which needed some repairs during our stay. The free bathroom amenities were from the Grown Alchemist. Apart from a vending machine in the reception area there were no other amenities like a breakfast room etc. We took our breakfast across the street in a local cafe and I used the late opening kiosk nearby for purchasing water and other drinks. One evening we came back really late and I had inadvertently forgotten my key. Unfortunately nobody answered the emergency number given. So we resorted to asking for help from a couple of guys lounging on their balcony on the 1st floor. They saved us from a night sleeping on the streets... All in all, we enjoyed our stay in this very new hotel. Once they've ironed out some of the things mentioned above this will be an even greater place to stay.

The Hotel is excellent and the Rooms are great, but they serve the worst Breakfast I ever had in Germany. Poor selection of everything, no fruits at all (for the price....), pastry like from wax, ”sunny-side up eggs” like from wax, scrabled eggs like from plastic, sausages burned from one side, undercooked from the other. Bacon had the same diagnose.. I have complained @ main Breakfast Chef, he sincerely had no idea what was wrong with the food = no cooking skills at all. Similar was the dinner.. undercooked meat, mushy overgrilled vegetables not edible at all. We complained, but again no response so we had to eat at McDonalds .. Terrible Food

Stayed here for a weekend exploring Berlin. The location was good just a short walk to the train station which take you into the centre of Berlin or you can catch a tram from Miles outside the hotel to the train station if you don’t want to walk. The rooms were clean and spacious but a little tired however we thought this was reflected in the price we paid. We booked 2 rooms and ended up next to each other which was great, whenever I book 2 rooms in the UK we end up on different floors. We did have a 5am fire alarm wake up call where we were evacuated from the building for some time with no communication. There is a Lidl nearby to pick up supplies if needed. We would definitely stay here again when we return to Berlin.
Perfect hotel. Room was spacious, facilities were modern and hotel is in a great location. The lobby also is quite cool with a large chillout area and breakfast facilities. Staff were also very friendly especially the gentleman at reception with the black beard. Made check in a breeze. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Berlin.

While the hotel appeared relatively new and clean, there were several areas where improvements are needed. 1. Blocked Floor Drain: One evening, as I prepared to take a shower, I noticed that the floor drain was completely blocked. This was highly inconvenient and unexpected. As a hotel guest, I believe it is not my responsibility to unclog drains manually. The task was unpleasant and should have been addressed by the hotel staff promptly. 2. Lack of Proper Cleaning Services: The cleaning services provided during my stay were disappointing. We had to repeatedly request basic cleaning essentials such as vacuuming and toilet paper. It was frustrating to spend a significant portion of our vacation time coordinating with the cleaning staff, especially considering that our requests were not excessive. 3. Inadequate Floor Cleaning: Upon arrival, we noticed that the floors were dirty and had not been properly vacuumed. This gave a poor first impression and indicated a lack of attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness. 4. Inconsistent Trash Management: The handling of trash was inconsistent. While one of the trash cans was emptied, the other remained full, suggesting an incomplete job by the housekeeping staff. Consistency in maintaining cleanliness is crucial for a pleasant guest experience. 5. Inconsistent Towel Change Service: The towel change service was also inconsistent. Some days, the towels were replaced, while on other days, they were not. This inconsistency can leave guests feeling uncertain about the level of service they can expect during their stay. 6. Misleading Information about Air Conditioning: One of the most significant issues we faced was the absence of the air conditioning system that was promised on ***********. This was particularly problematic as we had a family member with asthma, and the lack of cool air aggravated their symptoms. False information provided regarding amenities is not only misleading but also poses potential health risks to guests. I hope this review provides comprehensive feedback that will assist the management in identifying areas for improvement. It is my sincere hope that necessary actions will be taken to rectify these issues, ensuring that future guests have a more positive and comfortable stay at your hotel. Due to these problems, we decided to check out a day earlier than planned. We hope to hear from you regarding our concerns and the appropriate resolution to address the issues we encountered during our stay.
