聖保羅.德旺斯小鎮是尼斯和戛納之間的一座小山村。它被中世紀城牆環繞，卻是一處現代藝術聖地。據說，畢加索非常鍾愛這個村子。德旺斯依山近海，地理位置應該很重要，村內的石頭路蜿蜒曲折，小路兩旁林立着中世紀建築。16世紀，法國與意大利的戰爭中被二次入侵，於是，為了改善其偏低的防禦能力，文藝復興時期的藝術文化資助者、當時的法國國王佛朗索瓦一世，在1543年到1547年，命令建造了堅固的城牆和城門。城牆保存至今，城內也能看到一些軍事防禦風格的建築。

聖保羅.德旺斯小鎮位於尼斯城外的一座小山上，是法蘭西傳統的城堡。小鎮內隨處可見畫廊、美術館、工作室，充滿藝術氣息，安靜優雅。
