Situated in Quyang County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, Beiyue Temple was first built in Jingming, Emperor Xuanwu of the Northern Wei Dynasty in the Northern and Southern Dynasties. It was a place where many feudal emperors offered sacrifices to Hengshan Mountain of Beiyue from the Han Dynasty to the 17th year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1660 A.D.). Wuyue has a high reputation since ancient times. Because of its legend that it is the dwelling place of gods, emperors of past dynasties mostly go to sacrifice. Beiyue Temple, located in the southwest corner of Quyang County, Hebei Province, was built for the ancient emperors to offer sacrifices to "the God of Hengshan Mountain of Beiyue", so it is called Beiyue Temple. Quyang Beiyue Temple has a museum with a classical courtyard style. There are three exhibition rooms including bronze pottery, kiln pottery and stone carvings. More than 200 pieces of cultural relics are on display. There are couplets inscribed by celebrities in calligraphy on the doorposts of the library. Beiyue Temple is not only a place of worship for the God of Hengshan Mountain in Beiyue, but also a cultural and artistic palace with rich connotations. It integrates the flowers of ancient architecture, painting, calligraphy, stone carving, ceramics and other arts. It is brilliant and shining, showing the world the diligence, intelligence and wisdom of our great ancestors. When you walk in the palace, you will surely feel refreshed, filled with emotion, appreciate the true meaning of "truth, goodness, beauty" and make you appreciate the broad and profound traditional culture of our Chinese nation.
