沙灘廣場飯店(The Beach Place)

We left it too late to find accommodation in Cairns for our family holiday so had to venture a little way north to Yorkeys Knob. That works, as long as you have a car. Many of the day-trip also offer pick-up from the Yorkeys Knob Post Office bus stop which is within walking distance of The Beach Place. There was free on-site parking and a cafe on the ground floor which makes a great breakfast. Despite having a restaurant downstairs, the location was very quiet and we all slept well. The apartment had everything we needed and our host, Malcolm, was friendly and knowledgeable.

A great place for a family holiday with a cafe right below and the patrolled beach right across the road. Nice two bedroom apartment with a laundry for some washing too.

Malcolm and his daughter were great hosts, always friendly and helpful. We appreciated Malcolm's great sense of humour! The appartment is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The beach is just across the street. Yorkeys Knob is a nice seaside neighbourhood, conveniently located to explore the area. We had a lovely stay and will remember it fondly.

This property is situated above a restaurant not a cafe as shown on the promo photo which is not up to date either by accident or design. This restaurant has two exhaust fans, a newer one on the side of the building and a older one mounted on the rear of the building and this one is faulty. The noise reverberates throughout the building especially the property. The host knows about this but there was no mention beforehand and the noise is intolerable especially in the bedrooms. The fan is off at 20:45 but back on at 7:15. We stayed one night instead of the four nights we had booked as we could not put up with the noise and reverberation any more. I would think twice before booking here.

I booked through Agoda on 21/3. About three weeks ago i was emailed by the apartments to ensure I was still coming. I replied yes and would he like me to pay the balance. I heard nothing. On Friday I rang to make sure all was well with the booking as we leave to fly in 4 days and I was on the phone to a stressed, unprofessional manager who said “yeah i have that booking but there has been an issue and we cant accomodate you for the last night. I am also not happy with the price you paid. I explained we are a family with three children “what do you want us to sleep in the car. The whole of Nth Qld is booked out”. His response “yeah im Not sure what ya gunna do”. Thanks for absolutely nothing. We have travelled far and wide and have NEVER had this happen. I am absolutely disgusted.
