Difficult to objectively rate but I'll try. Checking in was an experience as this building was not hosted. I received no notifications prior to arrival and I had to call to get codes to get in. The 'key' was located in the room. If you didn't have a phone then try there was no way to get entry! The room was okay. An oil column heater was provided as central heating didn't work. Room was not serviced during the three day stay. To He curtains were not blackout and a bright streetlight outside the room severely restricted sleep comfort. Overall adequate but I wouldn't stay again.

The WORST customer service experience I have ever had in all my 32 years. I'll admit I never take time to write reviews but this has been so bad with this B&B i wanted to warn others. My Dad bought us a buy a gift voucher for Christmas to have a child free night away. We booked one night on Friday 17th March which we were looking forward to but my daughter was sent home from nursery 4pm the day before, Thursday, she was pretty sick (she also couldn't go back to nursery Friday and had no-one who could have her the whole day) so unfortunately we no longer could go away. I called them multiple times with no answer so messaged the hotel on WhatsApp asking if we could please swap the dates due to circumstances out our control . I was ignored until Tuesday 21st even though my messages were read the same day. They said if they'd have known the night before they could have helped which was odd because I had called and messaged multiple times on the Thursday (the day before!!), this is when they ignored me for good. Disgusting customer service and now wasted £90 of my dad's money due to their incompetence. AVOID!!

I stayed in an ensuit room which was at backyard. When I checked in around 3pm, some celling light bulbs in the room were not working and the room was dark. But a staff negotiated me if they can fix the next day. I said no, then they changed after all. Also backyard door was not locked well and it moved and made huge sound every 5 min when winds blew. It was really awful in the night time when the door closed with really HUGE aggressive sound. We couldn't sleep at all. Not only the door sound but sounds from other rooms were very clear as well. On check out day, there was no staff at reception and we had no idea how to checkout. We needed to make a call to an indicated number but wasted almost 20-30 min. Better avoid. We paid ￡160 for this experience. Not cheap.

Arrived and stood outside in the cold for 35 mins as no one was answering the phone. Finally got through and was given the pin for the door. Got told ‘My colleague left all this information in a message’ but never received this message. Two men checking in behind us never got a message either. Got moved from a double room to twin singles. Staff weren’t apologetic - made me feel like they’d done me a favour for not cancelling the booking last minute. Our room was freezing cold, so we kept waking up through the night. It also says alcohol isn’t permitted on the premises!

I recently booked to stay with you guys Upon arrival I paid an extra £15 to upgrade to a private bathroom which I couldn’t even use to shower because the water overflowed like the drain was blocked and the shower didn’t work properly it kept going scalding hot then freezing cold There were big hairs in the shower too One of the towels had a large brown stain on which I have pictures of so I just used it to dry the floor, disgusting but obvious what it was I had to shower in the sink Then onto the actual room… the bedding was stained and there was an aggressive drugged up lady that came out of a downstairs room who said she lives downstairs and has come off the streets She was slamming doors all night and while I was outside she was aggressive. We didn’t sleep because of worry we even had to ring reception to express our worry and he said don’t worry she’s drunk Why would you have someone like that when you’re trying to run a business She was shouting with loads of her ********* friends then coming in and out slamming all the doors Complete waste of 70 quid Would like a refund

We booked last minute and found the owners to be both helpful and accommodating. DV is easy to find and is around 15-20 minutes walk from the train station (albeit ours was longer as we called in to a couple of watering holes en-route!). Check-in was swift and we were offered room 9 which was spacious, clean and provided everything we needed for an overnight stay. Check-out time is a reasonable 10:30am and has a simple key-drop box and we were on our way. Would recommend to all as York is a fantastic city with lots to offer and quality accommodation like DV will see us visiting again soon.

We stayed for 2 nights.Very nice,bright and clean room.Comfy bed.Everything what you need is in the room.Clean towels,coffee,tea,cold water in fridge,fan.Not far from city centre.Next time when we will be in York ,Diamond Villa will be our 1st choice.Definitely recommended.

The stay was perfectly acceptable for the money paid. The room and bathroom were large enough. The check in was very efficient. Could do with some hooks in the bathroom, but this is by no means the only place I have stayed where these are missing.

Room was clean, bed was uncomfortable - mattress definitely needs replacing. Room decoration needs updating, water damage, looks generally tired. Expensive for room only and wanted extra for parking, despite there being plenty of spaces available. Tea and coffee available but limited choice.
