A horrendous experience of a shabby, dirty, smelly hotel. Incredibly rude and incapable manager who clearly bullies her staff and attempts to do the same to her customers. There is clearly an ongoing issue from previous reviews of smoking in this hotel, it is disgusting. Do not stay here.

Rang this hotel to book for 2 nights in November (26th and 27th) and was abruptly told they don’t do Sunday nights,I then tried to explain I had a voucher and was quickly told vouchers can only be used on a Thursday,I then said my voucher is for 2 nights and it clearly states on the vouchers website that your premises is available Sunday to Thursday,I was quickly shot down again and told no Thursday only at this point I hung up.I cannot believe the attitude of the person on the phone and would not recommend this place to anyone,pleased we didn’t get as far as actually staying there,looking forward to see what excuses I get in the response after reading other reviews

I've thought long and hard about writing this review as due to the family and people we were with on the whole it was an excellent day however the service and attitude we received was diabolical, we arrived for a very special wedding and we were not greeted, we had to ask where we were ment to locate, we were charged £20 for a single measure and mixer x2 the next time I ordered the same it was £12 and so on so on, we were not charged the same price twice. We asked for a special glass for the grooms drink and were told, we do not give these out normally until it was insisted, the room for the buffet and speeches was not ready until 45 minutes later than planned, the bar ran out of glasses, so couldn't sell any drinks, the dj was asked to turn the music down at 11pm due to a bridle party scheduled to be married the next day when the room was hired until 1am. Non of it made the brides day go smoothly and special, the very next day the bride and groom were upset by the way the guests were treated and overcharged. Very poor

The hotel is beautiful and I have absolutely no problems with the facilities. However, they had done a business deal with ******* which leaves the customers out of pocket and customers have to pay more money at check-in. I booked to stay here with my 2 children (1 adult, 2 children aged 12 & 10). When I arrived I heard the receptionist telling someone on the phone that this has happened to a few people and they needed to pay more for a bigger room. As I checked in they told me the same, that the booking I had made was for one room but they could not accommodate 3 people in the room and I needed to upgrade and pay more money. They blamed ******* and criticised me for booking through a 3rd party and not coming direct to them. I had 2 tired & hungry children, it was about 8pm and we had tickets the next day for Chester Zoo and we live 2 hours drive away so I was left with no option but to do this. I have a business and understand I why a company may make a business arrangement with a 3rd party (such as *******) to increase custom and bookings. However, if this business deal goes wrong, the customers should not be left to foot the bill.

100% avoid getting married here the owner is horrendous to deal with - they sell you a dream and you end up with a nightmare. A horrendous experience for a couple hetting married. Booked here for our wedding that took place 17.05.24. We had met with the wedding coordinator who was very nice and promised alot of things when we originally looked around the hotel and booked it for our wedding day. During the course of finalising all the details and having numours meetings with various different people and had different things agreed for our day. Once we started to get closer to the wedding day it became very apparent that the things we were promised over the course of the year was not going to happen - such as not being put in the correct bedrooms or suits that we had picked, little details about the wedding cake - when the wedding set up was going to happen. When it came to the day before the drinks were not ordered and had to ask for this to be done, there was no communication between the original team of wedding planners to the ones we were dealing with on the week of the wedding day. When we arrived at the venue the day before the owner of the hotel was rude to the guests who were staying at the hotel the day before with us - we had multiple of the guests come and complain to us about the sheer unprofessionalism and rudeness. The main hall was filthy and nothing was set up even though we were told this would have been done 2 days prior to enable us to put the final touches in the main hall. We had to keep asking for the hall to be cleaned and for it to be set up so we could finish off what we needed to do. This still was not done on the morning of the wedding and had to chase staff round the morning of the wedding to have the hall cleaned. The owner then blamed us for the hall not being cleaned as we had to access this. During the morning of the wedding we were told that we were not getting married outside even though this was what we booked as the owner said no as it was raining - it was 20 degrees with no rain. We had to repeatedly ask for an update about getting the lawns set up to be married outside. The owner of the hotel kept trying to tell us (the brides) how we should have our wedding and how traditional it should be. She was rude at almost every encounter - she made my partner cry before going down the aisle as she started shouting at her as she was taking photos with the photographer and she shouldn't be allowed to be walking around near the guests of the wedding as she would be seen. After this encounter the owner then cornered her and said why did she ask the guests to sit down and have drinks - even though the staff had asked the guests to do this but the owner blamed my partner and shouted at her as she allowed the guests to do this even though she was preparing to walk down the aisle. The owner then proceeded to argue with us about the order of bridesmaids and how we should do it. During our wedding day she kept pulling u

I Stayed for 2 nights for my best friends wedding. The staff are all so attentive, every single one of them, they are a total credit to the hotel. Big call out to Eddie, not only is he professional, super helpful and attentive, he works extremely hard to make sure everyone has what they need, whilst he’s simultaneously cleaning and serving! Food is really nice, and prices are reasonable. Grounds are lovely and relaxing, oh and the spa bath was fabulous. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful hidden gem. Came for a wedding the staff were fantastic and very attentive! Lady on the reception was very friendly. As was the man who kept checking we had everything we need and if we wanted anything whilst getting hair and make up. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable and the triple room we stayed in was not dated as some reviews suggest only issue was with a wobbly toilet seat. Spa bath was wonderful. The hotel is located in a quiet area with beautiful gardens which have lots of seating and is very peaceful in spots. We found the bar prices rather random and ended up paying £14 for 2 drinks at one point and £12 for 4 drinks another time. Overall we will probably come back and stay another time. I really recommend!

Stayed 2 nights for work. Good food and drink. Staff very attentive and helpful. I left behind some clothes in the wardrobe. They found them and sent to me with no fuss. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely stay again. Thank you Brook Hall
