A friend of ours booked us this place to stay for 6 nights from the 10-16 Sep 2023 after viewing it on the internet and reading some amazing reviews. We arrived there after spending a week in beautiful up country in Sri Lanka coming from overseas for a little holiday and was looking for a similar comfort we experienced in Nuwaraeliya & Hatton properties from Highbury Colombo. To our surprise this property was far from what the reviews say and is lacking in very vital matters. For starters the stairway is so insecure and very steep, the room that we had booked was very average,poor maintenance and can hardly call resort style living. There are mosquitoes roaming everywhere. If anyone is suffering from knee problems I strongly recommend not to book this. Since my friend has already paid for the full 6 days, the lady in charge was reluctant to budge from refunding any amount after we mentioned that we no longer want to stay there.. It's very unfortunate that the location of this property is very good yet the quality is far from resort style.

Reserved a room for 02 for 6 days in September 23. On arrival we were taken up two flights of narrow stairs to a room that had bed sheets which were not clean. The toilet too was not clean. Mentioned to the hostess that it was not possible to haul the large travel bags up the stairs and also that the climb was not good for guest who had a knee issue. Also realized the place was infested with mosquitos and dengue was widespread in Colombo. Had to move to a different hotel for the stay. The host refused to refund, despite the explanation about the climb, bad house keeping and mosquitos. Booked after reading the reviews and would caution travelers to be careful. The worst experience in all our travels/bookings. Cannot recommend Highbury Colombo.

Außerordentlich freundlicher Service. Sehr schönes Haus und wunderbarer Garten - ein kleines Paradies im Zentrum der Stadt. Von dort aus alles gut erreichbar. Wir haben sehr viele schöne Hinweise für unsere Unternehmungen in der Stadt erhalten. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder. Absolut empfehlenswert.

This place is 10/10. The most amazing hotel/homestay I’ve been to in my life. In the middle of the busy business city district, surrounded by gardens. You wake up to birds singing !!! And then you can go out and walk barefoot in garden, what a treat. Also the pictures don’t do it justice, the interior is amazing, it’s just so beautiful and thought out until minor details. The bed is so comfy, I don’t remember last time I slept so well! I will definitely come back to this place again very soon. It’s the best and only place to be in Colombo. The owners are also very kind. I really enjoyed my time with Manoji. She made outstanding egghoppers for breakfast on my first day and taught me how to cook Roti on my second day and shared many tips about cooking and nutrition. All the produce was from their garden as well. Taking breakfast option or cooking classes is more than worth it if you want to learn local food and I will come back to learn more from an experienced cook! I’m very thankful for this experience I had in their homestay and for serene and relaxing space in the middle of the busy city. Thank you so much dear Manoji and I wish all the happiness and prosperity to your family and homestay, you are now my favorite place !

After my second time in Highbury Colombo, I feel the need of writing this comment to say how thankful I am. This is one of the best places and people I have found after travelling the world, a very supportive local family that runs an AMAZING PLACE. They even pick you up from the airport! So, from my point of view, if you are coming to Sri Lanka and arriving in Colombo, this is definitely the place to start. You will find a natural place in the middle of the city, in which I felt so relaxed! "A little jungle in the middle of the city" The architecture of the house is amazing too, because the daughter of the family is an architect living in the US, and more importantly, they are fully run with solar energy, so being here is like contributing to greener tourism. Also, Manitha and Manoji are exceptionally supportive, anything you need they will always help you. And sharing and getting to know local people. I really felt after only 2 days that they acted as my own family. Plus the food that they offer and the activities are super nice! So Manitha, Manoji, thank you so much, indeed it will be the place to always come back.

The best place in Colombo! I arrived in Colombo and was collected at the airport by the lovely hosts, making me feel at ease he gave me advice of where to visit while here on my stay. Then gave me tailored advice of where to go based on my interests, like local gallery and temples to visit. They also upgraded my room free of charge! The dinner is lovely too, and priced at a fair rate. The perfect place to start your visit to Sri Lanka!

Sehr schöne Ruheoase mitten in Colombo! Ganz tolle Hosts und unglaublich leckeres Frühstück! Gute Lage, zu Fuß ans mehr 10 min., einige kleine und sehr gute Restaurants in Laufnähe, toll eingerichtete Räume, mit Liebe zum Detail! Der Hotelhund freut sich immer über Streicheleinheiten!

place is trully beautiful and so peaceful. Felt very safe there. Internet also works great. Would recomend to everyone. Great design, and hosts are very welcoming. Always helpful when you need anything. And next to it is best Italian restaurant in Colombo

We couldnt think of a better place to arrive after having an exhausting flight and a slight cultural shock. The hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful and the breakfast is among the best we have enjoyed throughout our travels in Sri Lanka! And yes, the house is as beautiful as on the picture :)

I stayed here solo when I visited 7 years ago. The rooms are so comfortable and clean and the hospitality has not changed. Will always be my go to when visiting Columbo. Make sure you get the breakfast!

This is a very nice private home in the middle of a beautiful and lushious garden, the house must be the work of a good architect full of elegant details and with nice art pieces and furniture. Our ac bedroom on the last floor was spacious and with a small terrace. The bathroom could do with some maintenance but we had a very good time in a welcoming and pleasant environment. The owners are polite and very kind people, the evening of our arrival they prepared a good dinner for us and the breakfast in the garden was a delight. The location is a bit away from the main "attractions", which isn't a big deal with the millions of Tuc Tucs around, but after a day of sightseeing in busy and chaotic Colombo we really appreciated the quiet of the house in the Highbury garden.

I booked with Highbury Colombo via *********** and cancelled the next day. They still have not refunded the monies they so quickly took from my account. They apologise for forgetting and then do not respond. Beware, do not deal with this hotel.

It has been a beautiful experience to arrive from Europe directly at this oasis of Colombo. An exeptional estethic place which is only the outer expression of the care, mindfulness and love in which the couple of the owners seem to life while touching the heart and mind of people passing through their place. A real discovery on all levels of hospitality. We arrived tiered and low and left refreshed, nourished and curious. If you look for a calm cozy and uplifting place with a personal touch, just go for it and enjoy!

Very bad room . Very small . Bad furniture. Bad smell . Dirty place . Bad smell in the bathroom and inside the room . Furniture is dirty we couldn’t . Mattress as well . Lizard inside the room and inside the bathroom. Not recommended at all . Bad decision
