The Hyatt Regency downtown Wichita is a really nice hotel. The rooms are always clean, the staff is always helpful and it's easy to get to right off the highway. It's got a beautiful view of the Arkansas River. I highly recommend staying here when visiting.
I was recently at a training course in Wichita for around 21 days, which required an extended-stay location. The reviews for the Residence Inn by Marriott looked good, so we booked it. The room and bathroom were clean, the bed comfortable, plenty of pillows the fireplace always on in the lobby, and the cookies warm nearly every evening! But what makes this place is the TEAM!!! The front counter team was courteous above and beyond, Richard took personal pride in having an awesome breakfast ready every morning (fresh fruits, eggs, bacon, waffles, periodically croissant sandwiches and other specialty items. I travel a lot and in many places, the staff are just that, staff who are just ”showing up” for work. Not here, it seemed that they took a special interest in how we were doing and wanted to make our stay special. Rebekah was always looking out for us, ensuring that we had a room when our stay was unexpectedly extended. We will be returning to Wichita periodically for recurrent training and there is no doubt as to where we will be booking - Residence Inn by Marriott - Wichita East! Thanks for making your guests feel so cared for!
This place is awful. I mean, it's a Comfort Inn not a roadside motel in Tijuana so what is going on here? The shower had no water pressure whatsoever, the room had a weirdly humid air about it despite our constantly running a/c, the hallway carpeting is abysmally dirty, the elevator glass and floor are dirty (it's impossible to see through the glass), the grout in the tub is in desperate need of replacement and is terribly mildewed, all of the doors, trim and floors are marred, shabby and filthy throughout the hotel, the breakfast area ceiling tiles have water damage and are dirty and gross, and most disturbing of all is the air and heat vent there which is absolutely black with mold! I have actually contacted the Health Department about it. This is not just unsightly but hazardous to anyone and especially for those with breathing issues or asthma. Comfort Inn should be capable of much better and ought to be ashamed to call this one of theirs.
I like to give good reviews. I like to give folks the benefit of the doubt on things. I will try and be balanced with this review. When I first walked in, I was greeted by the stench of cigarette smoke. Not a good start. The front desk clerk was not rude. He was cordial, but not overly friendly. Check in was smooth. I was not recognized as a Diamond Choice Rewards member. Not a huge deal, but other properties are good about that. No business center, but the clerk was very kind to make copies for me and did so quickly. On to the room. The positives - very spacious and a decent work area. The bed seemed clean and had no bed bugs - I checked. It was pretty easy to keep the room temperature consistent. Negatives - Hair in the tub. Need to do a better job. The carpet is ancient and showing lots of wear. There was peeling paint in the bathroom. Behind the entry door to the room was debris that looked to have been there for a long time. There were also ”interesting” characters hanging around the motel. I don't get intimidated, but I could see how some folks would. The motel is obviously in need of an upgrade to bring it up to Choice standards. It's just not there. I would probably stay again, but I would never allow my wife to stay there or even have her stay there with me. It's just not good enough. The place has potential, but it just isn't living up to high standards.
MMichaelT711The stay was fine. Clean affordable room but it took me over an hour to check in because I came after 8pm. Staff was great but using the courtesy phone should not be so inconvenient.
I’ve gone to many Red Roof Inns, and this was the third one on this particular road trip. The facility was very nice, clean, and comfortable. However, I had come down with a very cold previous to this. I wanted to stay a third night, but they were sold out for a basketball tournament. I can understand this, but I was so sick; I could hardly move; and their main concern was just getting me out of the room. I needed a late checkout, and with no sympathy from the manager; they kept my $100 deposit for checking out late, and for having to clean the carpet supposedly because of my litter box trained rabbits. The rabbits did admittedly hide under the bed, and two of the housekeeping staff (that I tipped well) had to lift the bed, so we could get them out. What was under that bed; was an accumulation of years of filth, and that carpet was long overdue for a cleaning…..but yet they took advantage of the situation to charge me for it. Also, no Kleenexes and complimentary bottles of water, as all other Red Roof Inns have. Not a friendly place! Two rabbit ears down!! (\ (\ ( -.-) o_(“)(“)
