哈考特阿姆斯飯店(The Harcourt Arms)

When we lived in the UK about 30 years ago, The Harcourt Arms was a local for us with great food, great a**osphere. So on a visit, we decided to take 4 friends for dinner.We had been there a couple of days earlier for a light lunch, which was nice, even though the pub was deserted except for one other couple and their dog. Enjoyable soup, bread etc. However.......the dining experience two days later was not pleasurable. Instead of seating us in the pub area, we were taken through to the dining area relating to the 'hotel' extension. there was a large party of 20 or so already seated. As our visit went on, this party became more and more raucous, with a child of about 3 running up and down until I sternly told him to stop and go back to mummy. There were several members of the party who clearly didn;t know how to behave when there were other patrons present. We ordered our food....my order came with an incorrect side, and as we started to eat, it became clear that not only was the food unimaginative, it was obviously from a frozen supply of chicken kiev, french fries and most of the other food. it came with just a sprig of watercress, no vegetables or sauce, Most unappetising and we all left some of our food. Nevertheless, we carried on and ordered 4 desserts......3 appeared but the 4th (Plum and grapefruit Eaton Mess (weird combination!)). Then, out of nowhere, the waiter appeared with a bill, which on inspection turned out to be for a totally different table! After a wait, when the rest had finished the desserts, the aforesaid Eaton Mess appeared. After a couple of spoonfuls, that too was left. We did get an apologu of sorts and they didn't charge for the desserts but all in all it was an unpleasant experience and we, as hosts for our friends were left embarrassed. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this establishment....it's gone from being a charming Oxfordshire pub, to an extended building, pretentious, wanna be Cotswold type place.

What a disappoin**ent….. We ate here yesterday evening in what was a comedy of errors. We were seated next to a very large party of loud, cackling women and young children running up and down the restaurant. We were smoked out from someone putting wood on the fire in the room next door! My clothes stink of smoke. The service was very poor, waiting ages to have our orders taken, wrong food brought, food not arriving together (one of the desserts arrived 10-15 minutes after the rest! And having to chase up!) We were even given a bill whilst we were still eating! The food was very average, I had Cheeseburger and fries… literally that was it! Could have come from McDonalds…. (Probably quicker!) Granted the manager took deserts of the bill, the premises were charming but sadly we won’t be recommending and visiting again. Interesting that I put this review on their own website and it was removed! I have reposted tho

A lovely evening spent with friends in a cozy a**osphere scented with wood-smoke and young and charming staff. The new management is pushing things up. Wonderful things emerged from a josper grill including baby gem lettuce anchoïade and high quality steaks. Rabbit chops with herb butter were a delicious nibble with a pint of ale to kick off. Many thanks, will return.

Bavette steak salad and chips for my wife, Cod, chips and mushy peas for me. Not haut cuisine, not difficult to cook and therefore it should be good. Yet even this simple meal is beyond the capabilities of this so called restaurant: soggy reheated unpleasant chips. tasteless fish. mushy peas, when specifically requested no mushy peas. steak arrived well done, when medium rare requested salad contained one quarter of one cherry tomato £37 for this. go elsewhere with your money. Avoid this place.

We stayed for the Lionel Richie concert at Blenheim and feel so lucky to have chosen The Harcourt Arms. Luxury rooms, beautiful bathrooms, friendly service, delicious meals. They've thought of every single convenience in the rooms, we found it faultless. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in this beautiful area which is just a stones throw from Blenheim look no further you will not be disappointed. Top marks to all concerned, we highly recommend.

Best Sunday roast I've had in ages! Good range on the kids menu. Great service, lovely surroundings. This places deserves to do well, setting really exceptional standards. Decent value for money too.

We booked in with my toddler and wife paying for the family room. We were given a different room, which may or may not have been an upgrade. It wasn’t explained. This was a bit of trend. The room was big, spacious and well set out. The cleaning staff were very friendly. We had a 21 month old and chose the harcourt arms so we could sit by the fire and put the baby monitor on. Carefully checking times. The first night was fine. The second night they closed and locked the downstairs without telling us. Google and the website said it should be open. It meant we had to sit on the floor at the top of the stairs whilst our son went asleep. Not quite what we planned. The staff saw what we were doing with the monitor, any of them could have mentioned. Breakfast was very average. They forgot our black pudding on the first day and we had to ask. The second day service was like faulty towers where the person serving clearly didn’t really know what they were doing. We had to tell them where to get their own high chair and it took nearly an hour to get porridge and toast- our toddler was famished and going apocalyptic by then. My wife just wanted to get up to put the toaster down for them! They seemed unbelievable unaware of the situation they were putting us in. Really nice place. Clearly got staffing issues- like everyone else. Shame the communication wasn’t better.

Excellent! Had Sunday Lunch there, food was delicious. The service was great, David the front of house was particularly good, very attentive and professional! Would thoroughly recommend the Pub, it has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and we will definitely be returning.

Sadly our first visit to this lovely looking pub was pretty dreadful. We waited for too long for everything. Food was ok but was not as described on the menu in 3 out of 4 dishes. Seemed wrong that dogs were allowed on the furniture. Restaurant was cold with only one log burners lit of the 3? Available. Won’t be going back.
