韋爾斯利精品飯店(Wellesley Boutique Hotel)

Prachtig hotel met een mooi verhaal. Sfeervol. Kamer is van alle luxe voorzien. Goede locatie in het centrum, alles is op redelijke loopafstand (van het Te Papa, het centraal station tot aan de veerboot).

This was the greatest hotel I have ever stayed in. I'm over 'same same' hotels and marvelled at the grandness of the Wellesley. Of course, you can get 'grand' at lots of places but none have the class, history and location of this place. It was especially enjoyable because I am a Kiwi and value the heritage but I also loved the elegance of the staircase, opulent drapes, the timeless oak panelling, the well-placed wingback chairs, the high ceilings and ornamental plasterwork. On top of this, the hotel is right in the middle of the city, has a (welcome after a cold day) bath and possibly the whitest, fluffiest towels in the history of towels. It was quiet with a marvellously comfortable bed (with chocolates on the pillows no less). The staff were gracious and clearly have high expectations of cleanliness as it was spotless.

This is not the first time we stayed at the hotel. We love the atmosphere and the character. Really nice hotel with great service and friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are always sparkling clean. The hotel has a great location, a fraction away from the noisy city center, which makes it really quiet with all the amenities in walking distance. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you

What an absolutely delightful experience. I definitely hope to stay there again when I'm next in the capital, preferably next time with my husband. It was such a treat to use a vintage elevator, and the room was extremely comfortable and attractive. But the best thing about the Wellesley? The staff! They were, without exception, friendly, chatty, and welcoming.

If you want a different stay than the sterile big box hotel chains this is the place! It has that old world charm and style that makes you feel welcomed and at home with a touch of style and class. From the awesome helpful welcome at reception to getting in the old style lift, to finding a quiet room full of charm was great. Plus the added bonus of being upgraded really made my stay! This will definitely be the place I book next time back in Wellington.

The 1920/30s architecture and original interiors are awesome. So great that the building has been preserved as well as it has been (has it been earthquake strengthened yet? I think the deadline is 2025?). The room was clean and well appointed (great minibar), good working desk, lighting, tea table, bathroom, etc. The TV channel options were disappointing but the wifi quality was very good. The whole place has a quaint feeling given the history and grander of the place and colourful people who stayed there. A few nice places to eat close by but it's the quiet end of town, so not the greatest selection (La Saigon is really good). The staff were friendly and helpful. It's a hidden gem that deserves a higher profile and I'd be interested in investing in it if the opportunity ever came up. Double/triple glazed windows would be the first thing I spent money on.

A fantastic great value, excellent Hotel in the heart of Wellington, I stay in Hotels all over the world and was impressed. Being right in the heart of Wellington you have no end of dinning options for dinner and breakfast. The rooms and bathrooms are a lot bigger than standard.

Such a darling of a hotel. Truly boutique with all the comforts you expect of a modern stay but with old world charm and style. I was absolutely amazed at how serene and quiet my room was. Claw floor bath was a delight as were the rich furnishings. Just a wonderful, easy and charming stay! Thank you.

Occupying a unique and noteworthy heritage building in central Wellington, the Wellesley looks and feels much like it would have done back in the days when it was an exclusive 'Gentlemen's Club'. Now owned by the Masons, Wellesley 'Club" has plenty of old world charm and features you wouldn't find in a sanitised 21st Century hotel. Yes the lift is hard to manoeuvre and somewhat frustrating, but it is original, and that's part of the experience. At least you get warned about the mechanics of the heavy wooden door that will happily crush you if you don't boss it. The original staircase is lovely too, even though you wouldn't want to eat anything you'd accidentally dropped on the carpet... Rooms are large - huge even, depending on which one you are allocated - and have an old world sense of architecture and space. Original plastered ceilings and old wooden furniture add to the sense of time and place here. Decor and maintenance-wise though, the rooms leave something to be desired. I stayed in 2 different rooms on 2 separate visits, and both made Granny's front room look like an example of award-winning interior decoration. Haphazard is an appropriate word to use - except for the bathrooms. These are modern marvels in black & white tile, with gleaming toilets, baths and showers, and wouldn't be out of place in the Mandarin Oriental. Obviously they were first in line for a previous renovation effort, and seemingly the last as well. The rest of the rooms and the common areas are a somewhat faded collage combining the worn, crumpled, stained, chipped and cracked of everything. The wifi is shockingly bad as well, and I had to hotspot my phone to conduct a Zoom meeting because the signal was so poor (yes, it was the same on both visits). This is pretty much unacceptable. With no currently operating bar or restaurant, and no staff available after about 5pm, you will likely experience one of those '******* house' moments when you arrive back after dinner. Deathly silent, not a soul around...it's a highly unusual scene, although not as disturbing as it sounds. Twin Peaks fans will be right at home. if authenticity and quirkiness are your thing, then the Wellesley may well be the place for you. Personally, I liked it enough to return for a second stay, and would do so again. By the way, Anna on the front desk is lovely (when she is there).
