奧雷蒂村度假飯店(Oreti Village Resort)

What a lovely location, really magnificent. Room was very comfortable and the views from the terrace fabulous. I would highly recommend a visit, and add a day or two.

So happy we discovered and booked two nights at Oreti Village Resort for our recent stay! Our lodging was quiet, spacious and clean with a magnificent view of Lake Taupo. While the furnishings were a bit dated, we very much appreciated the kitchenette and washer/dryer. Service from staff was exceptional, especially Debbie. Debbie kindly arranged for a packed breakfast and lunch for the day of our trek. We dined at the Oreti restaurant both nights and enjoyed wonderful service, flexible reservations and delicious food. We also appreciated the great recommendation for transportation to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing with Tongariro Adventures. We highly recommend Oreti Village Resort!

The property was beautiful and front desk staff very accommodating with scheduling and advising about the Tongariro trek and alternative activities in the area. This is really a beautiful place to basecamp and enjoy the views of Lake Taupo. The only downside was that the restaurant was closed during our stay and the only other options were in Turangi. No fault of the resort, only mildly inconvenient. The real issue was in Turangi itself. These were the rudest locals we came across in the many places visited during our trek across all of NZ. Being from Hawaii we usually spread and receive back aloha from our Pacific neighbors. We could barely get service at local restaurants and felt we may truly be in danger entering the local supermarket. It is truly a sad place where a smile and hello is returned with a grunt and get out of town glare. To summarize, the resort stay and nearby treks were some of the greatest experiences of our trip but Turangi and its residents should be avoided if possible.

Deserves 5* to be honest, if not for the upstairs guests in room 20A! They were up really early and back late, just their footsteps troubled us in 20B :/ Not sure if it is the flooring? Anyway. Other than that, Oreti is beautiful! Ridiculous lakefront views of Taupo, it is everything we could’ve asked for. We loved our mornings as the sky lit up across the lake, little birds on our balcony. The apartment is not just fully equipped but drizzled with thoughtfulness - from the washing powder to the portable heaters. Electric blankets were a plus! Fridge/ freezer was top notch, our ice packs were solid and ready for our day trip to Whakapapa. We just got back to AKL and my husband exclaimed “OK - Oreti is better than this house”! Haha I fully agree :) Thank u for having us! Trying to come up with an excuse to be back soonest. PS. Maybe gun for the single digit apartments, first row to the lake. Numbers 4-9? It does help not to worry about other guests above u.

Stayed at the resort for a conference over two days. Location was superb and the conference facilities and restaurant are great. Stayed in the Executive room which is well appointed and the best view of Lake Taupo.

This place advertises itself as a luxury resort and Google says it’s a five star hotel. That is definitely not the case. This place is more of a rustic lake camp. Our place smelled like mildew and all of the furniture and fixtures were old, tired, and grungy. There are no screens on the windows and quite a few mosquitoes so you can’t enjoy the fresh air with the windows open. There was a kitchen but limited dishes, utinsils, and supplies for having a meal in. No napkins, no dish brush or sponge. No way to clean up other than putting dishes in the dishwasher. There are ashtrays on the deck tables. Luckily the people around us didn’t smoke or we would have been miserable. Their website mentions a number of things that aren’t accurate. Says it’s lakefront but it’s actually way above the lake and there’s no way to actually get down to the lake from the resort. They also advertise that you can book fly fishing and their chef will cook it for you. My husband booked the fly fishing and normally does catch and release only but I thought fresh fish would be awesome for dinner so he brought back a huge trout. When I asked the woman at the bar to cook it she stared at me like I was crazy and said we don’t do that. Then they tried to tell us we could bake it in the oven in our room. We didn’t even have a baking dish much less foil, butter, or anything else to put on the eventually, after telling them their website says they will do this and we didn’t want to hav killed the fish for nothing, they cooked it for us but nothing special. Not with a meal in the restaurant. They just sent us back to our room with it in foil. Don’t get me wrong, the views are amazing and if you go in expecting more of a lake cabin, it’s fine, but it’s definitely not luxurious. They do weddings and I don’t know how you could possibly feel clean and beautiful dressed up for a wedding staying here.

Breath taking views, a pool and tennis court and a fabulous restaurant, what more could you want to see in the new year. Oreti is peaceful and relaxing, the chalets are beautifully equipped and furnished. Dinner was superb and substantive and our vegetarian traveller was well catered for, hats off to Fleur and her team for great food and service

We soent three days here and the views are amazing. We would definitely stay again.
