維克多雨果餐廳飯店(Hotel - Restaurant " Victor Hugo")

We hebben een fantastisch verblijf gehad in Vianden. Het hotel is zeer geschikt als uitgangsbasis om overal naar toe te gaan. De superiour double kamer is zeer ruim, ook de badkamer. Je kan er rustig ontbijten, heel lekker en uitgebreid. ‘s Avonds kan je nog in het cafe lekker napraten. Het is zoeken naar een parkeerplaats voor de auto als je niet ‘s morgens aankomt. Er is geen parkeerplaats aan het hotel. Maar na 18u kan je de auto verplaatsen naar een dichtbije gratis parking.

Hotel in posizione centrale, con parcheggi liberi nei dintorni e un pratico parcheggio coperto a pagamento durante la settimana e gratis nel weekend dal sabato sera. Stanza (standard) ok, tranne il letto, che aveva una testata in legno sporgente e dovevi fare attenzione alla testa, un incubo!. La camera era pulita ma mancava quasi di tutto, solo il bagno era fornito in modo sufficiente. Personale cordiale e check-in , check-out veloci. Colazione a nostro avviso troppo cara (13€), abbiamo preferito fare colazione nei caffè in prossimità. Peccato, riducendo il prezzo della colazione i clienti sarebbero più invogliati a usufruire del servizio. Abbiamo cenato una sera al ristorante dell'hotel, nella media, niente di entusiasmante. Nel complesso, consigliato.

Heel schoon hotel met mooie kamers en een flinke inloopdouche. Was onze t****e keer dat we hier waren en het blijft een goed hotel met een goed restaurant. Ontbijtbuffet mag wel wat uitgebreider. Hotel ligt perfect voor uitstapjes en wandelingen, vlakbij de kabelbaan. Enige minpuntje vond ik dat de handdoeken erg hard waren.

The hotel enjoys a central position in the middle of town. There is free parking in a small car park in Rue Victor Hugo about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Not an especially warm welcome on arrival, there was no one on reception when we arrived outside to get information on car parking locations and it took five minutes to find a server in the cafe. On return the receptionist who had now reappeared was working on her computer and failed to  acknowledge us for what seemed to be several minutes. We choose a junior suite which was in a separate building adjacent to the hotel that is shared with private apar**ents. This was a large modern room with balcony. Bed was comfortable with good shower although lacking slightly in furnishings given the size of the room. Breakfast the following morning had the usual selection of food, although the only hot option was scrambled egg and unusually nothing much in the way of pastries. It was the only hotel on our trip that charged separately for breakfast so at €12 each, we would only describe the breakfast serving as adequate.

Nous avons passé 3 nuits à l'hôtel Victor Hugo et avons été ravis de notre séjour. Notre chambre avait vue sur la rivière. Nous avons apprécié le confort de l'hotel , le calme et la gentillesse du personnel. Nous avons aussi apprécié le cadre et la qualite du restaurant. Les petits déjeuners étaient parfaits. Mooie locatie, waardoor vlakbij gratis parkeren wel lastig is. Wel is er op 300 meter afstand voldoende plek. Nette, schone kamer, hoewel sommige dingen wat onderhoud nodig hadden (loszittende badsteun en handdoekenrek). Vriendelijk, behulpzaam personeel. Goed restaurant. Ontbijt met voldoende keus.

We were passing through Vianden during a small heat wave. Temperatures were in the 90°s Fahrenheit. So, I booked a room here because it was advertised as having air conditioning. When we got to the front desk, I was told only “superior” rooms have air conditioning and ours did not have that. They said there was a fan only. All the “superior” rooms were taken so we had to sweat through the night. I know many places in Europe don’t have air conditioning, but this place advertises that it does. It just doesn’t have it for everyone which is conveniently left out of the amenities list. I booked using *******. They called the hotel manager on my behalf after I tried and management refused any form of compromise. This place is probably fine any other time except when it’s hot.

Nice little place. The 1 person room is like a dorm room with 2 twin beds (my company booked us wrong). They felt bad for us and upgraded us to rm 302 after 1 night and it was great! Be prepared, no coffee machine in rooms and be sure to bring your own soap, shampoo and conditioner (provided stuff is Spartan). Traffic and night party noise is intense when windows are open but that’s part of the “a**osphere”. Restaurant is very nice and an older crowd. Overall it is a great stay. We’ll be back.

So! A fabulous setting! Amazing, witty, friendly staff, locals and dogs! Great views, fantastically brilliant food (the cauliflower soup is amongst the best soups I have ever, ever had, including Michelin starred ones, and the traditional smoked pork and beans was utterly, utterly beautiful). They have a couple of electric car charge points too! Please, make a stop to eat and sleep here, you will not, I promise, be at all disappointed.
