鐘樓飯店(Clocktower Inn Ventura)

Pros: the staff is incredibly nice and friendly. The hotel itself is Spanish mission style and well maintained. The water pressure in the shower is very powerful and the bed, while not a high quality mattress, is comfortable enough. We had a King room with a fireplace and small balcony so that was a bonus! Cons: the bathroom. I understand when a bathroom is old and needs some updating but this bathroom was just plain gross! Additionally, whenever the lights are turned on in the bathroom, there’s this dreaded loud sound of a fan. The toilet was also very loud. The walls are thin so I could hear when the person next door was showering at 1:30am. There were also holes in walls and the walls really needed some cleaning. Also, the lamp shade is so old and peeling. Getting a new lampshade is such an easy, cheap fix. Were it not for the condition of the bathroom, I would stay here again. If the bathrooms are not updated, I will not.

Well located, walkable to beach and downtown area. Looks cool online, but this property is way past its prime. Parking was tight, had to park over a block away in public parking lot and had to carry my luggage back and forth. (Once in the rain.) The room view was an old wood fence about two feet from the window along the back property line. The room was dark, dank, and had old cheap furnishings. Rugs in hallways were old, threadbare and smelly. The included breakfast was coffee and oatmeal in packets and a little fruit.

We reserved the King suite online and it wasn’t available when we got there. We were down graded to a 2 double bed room. The walls were cracked and peeling. The bathroom was outdated. The bed was not comfortable at all.

We stayed here 2 nights. During those 2 nights we killed 8-9 large spiders in our room. Cracks and openings under the doors and around the air unit that barely worked. Mold on the bedroom curtains, brought it up they didn’t care. No parking in lot had to park on street. Was warn by Mexican restaurant next door that the area is pretty unsafe and which streets you can walk down. Never staying here again

Listing is very misleading. Property and room old. Locks on doors broken. Will never stay here again

Humid, everything completely rusted, no parking, and expensive

Charming property near the Mission San Buenaventura and a block from downtown shops and restaurants. We always stay at the Clocktower Inn where passing this way because it’s always a delightful visit to lovely Ventura. It’s a bit further to walk to the beach but the promenade is lovely.

My fourth stay since November, and I will return again. There is a lot to like about this place, and a few dislikes. The good: Attractive property, friendly staff. Nice rooms. Convenient restaurant and bar. Great location, free parking. In-room fridge, microwave and a little coffee maker. The bad: Hard mattress and pillows. Crummy soap, not enough towels and even the in-room coffee Weekday breakfast offerings are weak (compared to a place like a Hampton Inn.)
